It Was an Eggs-e-llent Day for ‘Serving Aloha’— Just in time for Easter!
Last week Wednesday’s ‘Serving Aloha’ turned out to be the perfect harbinger of Easter! Our food distributors brought us crates galore of eggs, eggs, eggs besides other food. (Photos below show volunteers setting up.) Thirty-nine faithful volunteers served 558 families. Each family happily received a full tray of 30 eggs and other items such as bento, bread, pineapples, yogurt, juice, and milk.

Fanny Yeung and Veronica Cheung of the Serving Aloha core committee said, “We were blessed again and again with beautiful weather during our distribution” even though weather reports predicted rain, “reminding us that He is in control of the wind and the rain and all of His creation.”
A Blessed Easter to All, from the Serving Aloha Committee
Hope Is Renewed Every Easter
By Gary Hoover (Get to know Gary. See end of article)

The Christian story centers on Holy Week, where fear and love collide. Hope disappears amidst unbearable grief. Then we are completely surprised by the resurrection--and hope reappears on Easter.

Recent shootings in American cities are not unrelated to the continuing violence we perpetrate against “all our relations” in the Creation. We have learned to take without regard, and now as the Holocene slips away like the Garden of Eden, we need more than ever to follow Christ, who gave himself completely and shows us the way of love.
