"Your Hard-Earned Happiness"
Dr. Rev. Nate Walker
Does happiness just happen? Or are there strategies we can use to increase our happiness for ourselves and those around us? By drawing upon evidence-based publications in peer-reviewed medical journals, we will reflect upon the scientific study and practice of happiness. Rev. Walker was the ministerial intern at CUUC in 2005-2006. He is the community minister for religion and public life at the Church of the Larger Fellowship, and author of Cultivating Empathy.
Sun Jul 21, 10:00am, Fellowship Hall
"Science, Religion, Conflict, & Politicization"
Ray Schmitt
Since the days of Galileo, science and religion have been in conflict, and that's okay. But the rejection of scientific understanding and advancement is not. How did we get here? How have leading scientists struggled with this conflict? And what might we do? Ray Schmitt has been a member of CUUC since 2005.
Summer Services at CUUC
Led by members, friends, and guest ministers, summer Sundays are more intimate so people have opportunities to participate and grow closer. Worship is at 10:00am (centering music begins at 9:50am). The nursery is staffed for young children. Stay after worship for conversation and community, with light refreshments from our self-serve table. (Feel free to bring your own treats to share!) See 2019 speakers and themes HERE.

From Environmental Practices
Steve and Rhonda Miller recently purchased an all electric car and got this $14.5K rebate. They love driving the 2019 Nissan Leaf! The driving range is 150 miles on a single charge. Owners will want to install a 240 volt hookup at home, and sign up with Con Ed for night charging. To learn more, feel free to get in touch. Steve Miller (, Rhonda Miller (, 914-723-0982).
Housing Help for Local Woman
Mary, a 67-year-old resident of the YMCA in White Plains, will be displaced when the facility closes in two weeks. She has cerebral palsy, is hard of hearing, and lives on disability payments. She is also active, friendly, and has a great sense of humor. She is looking to rent a bedroom with private bath in a location within walking distance to stores (White Plains preferred but not necessary) where she can live with her two cats. She can afford up to $1,500 per month. If someone is looking for companionship and extra income, this could be a wonderful win-win opportunity. You may TEXT Mary (she may not hear her phone ring) at 914-523-5716. Or contact Deb Margoluis (914-393-9451, ) for more info.

Share the Plate for July & August: Murray Grove
This summer we share half our non-pledge collection with Murray Grove Retreat and Renewal Center, the only Unitarian Universalist conference center in the Metro area and the site traditionally considered to be where Universalism in America began. Among the many camps, trainings, retreats, and workshops offered is the program our CUUC Coming of Age classes attend as part of their journey toward creating a statement of faith.
