Hearts and Minds - Rev. Kimberley Debus, Tracy Breneman - VIRTUAL WORSHIP
What's on your heart? What's on your mind? Please send us your questions and thoughts. In our online service on Sunday, Rev. Kimberley and Tracy will hold space for all of us. Please send your thoughts via email to no later than Fri Mar 13 at noon.

Centering music will begin at 9:50am and worship at 10:10am.
Rev. Kimberley and I are planning our online worship for this Sunday and are very excited about creating new space to be in community together. If you would like to try out Zoom before Sunday morning, we invite you to log on or phone in Friday afternoon, 1:00-2:00pm . You may listen via phone by calling 646-876-9923 and entering Meeting ID 289 850 7899 when prompted. Or you may connect online at (learn more about setting up Zoom HERE).  While we set up for Sunday, we will have common household items on display that you can use to make your own chalice at home to light during worship. Maybe we'll even make chalices together! (We can do that again next week.) We'll be in that same space again for Sunday morning worship, with centering music beginning at 9:50am and worship at 10:10am.
Staying Connected
Please let us know if you have decided or are ordered to self-quarantine and whether you need food or other supplies while staying home. Also let us know if you are ill, have tested positive, and/or have been hospitalized. Reach out to our monthly Caring & Sharing representatives Johanna Baur (, 914-636-1047) or Lois Holt (, 914-329-0603), or to Rev. Kimberley Debus (, 518-423-1964). Because some may feel isolated at this time, we would appreciate having more helpers for Caring & Sharing who can make visits, deliver supplies, make a phone call, assist with technology, and help those who may not be going out. If you would like to join, contact Astrid Rogers (, 914-949-0294).
Email Phishing Scams
CUUC members have again been the target of scam artists who send emails posing as the minister, asking for help (a recent subject line was "PEACE!!"). The email address may look like Rev. Meredith's. Always pause and look for warning signs before responding to any unsolicited email. Contact the CUUC office if you are ever in doubt. Learn more HERE
Journey Groups
Unless absolutely necessary, we ask Journey Groups, including those scheduled for this Sunday, 11:45am, to choose to meet online. To learn more about using Zoom for phone or online meetings, click HERE
Faith Development Friday
We will not be meeting in person for this month's Faith Development Friday, scheduled for Fri Mar 20.
If we decide to hold programs online using Zoom, we will notify the congregation.

From the Environmental Practices Group
Can you still recycle plastic bags at supermarkets? Yes. The NYS Plastic Bag Law explicitly keeps the requirement for large retail stores, including supermarkets, to provide bins for collecting film plastic for recycling. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation website defines film plastic and lists the types of recyclable and non-recyclable film plastics. Learn more HERE.
Used Shoe Drive
Soles4Souls Gently Used Shoe Drive, through Sun Apr 22
We are partnering with the White Plains Mayor's office to collect gently used shoes for Soles4Souls. The shoes will be distributed around the world to those in need. We accept all types, styles, and sizes, even single or mismatched shoes. Put a rubber band around each pair of shoes and drop off in the lobby collection box. Learn more HERE .
Walk MS
CUUC member Karen Dreher and family have signed up for Walk MS, an event to raise funds for multiple sclerosis research. Their daughter Erica was diagnosed in August, and while available medications can stop the disease's progression, there is currently no cure. The Dreher clan invites you to join them and help keep this valuable research going. Learn more HERE
UUA General Assembly
UUA General Assembly, Jun 24-28, Providence, Rhode Island
As of Fri Mar 13, this event will take place as scheduled. Early Bird rates for General Assembly 2020 in Providence end Sun Mar 16. We invite you to join us for 5 days of learning, community, worship, and doing the work of the association. Rooted, Inspired, Ready!
Share the Plate for March: Murray Grove
This month we share half our non-pledge collection with Murray Grove Retreat and Renewal Center, the only Unitarian Universalist conference center in the Metro area and the site traditionally considered to be where Universalism in America began. Among the many camps, trainings, retreats, and workshops offered is the program our Coming of Age classes attend as part of their journey toward creating a statement of faith (pictured: our 2018 COA class at Murray Grove).

Practice of the Week: Simplify
"Simplicity" has a number of overlapping aspects: reducing the hectic pace of life; reducing consumption and reliance on exploited labor, and environmental harm; reducing the clutter of stuff; paring away things that are merely distractions from the kind of life that we want to live; enhancing self-reliance and reduced consumption through self-provisioning activities. Your Moment of Zen: The Purpose of Practice
Badger attended the circle irregularly because of family responsibilities. One evening he was able to come for zazen and questions. He asked, "What is the purpose of the practice after all?" Raven asked, "Do you have an inkling?" Badger hesitated, "I'm not sure," he said. Raven said, "Doubts dig up the whole Blue Planet." READ MORE
