In the Parent Group this week, we explored the idea of using covenants at home. Beyond behavioral agreements, covenants are fundamentally about relationship, an invitation to hold the needs and journey of others as they need them to be held, which might at times look different from how we wish  our needs and journey to be held. Simply asking those dear to us, "What do you need today?" is a start. It is an invitation for them to honor their experience, and possibly an opportunity for you to support them. Read more HERE

Sun May 3, 10:00am Online Worship
"Transforming Your Inner Critic"
~ Rev. Meredith Garmon
You have an internal voice that criticizes you -- that is always telling you that you should be or do more X, and that you should stop being or doing Y. Is this really necessary? Is there a more joyous way to live?
Sun May 10, 10:00am Online Worship
"Don't Try this at Home"
~ Rev. Meredith Garmon
In The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Luke Skywalker, receiving instructions from Yoda, sighs, "All right, I'll give it a try." Yoda famously responds: "No! Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try." In The Karate Kid (1984), Mr. Miyagi tells Daniel, "Either you karate do 'yes,' or karate do 'no.'" Acknowledging that both of these Hollywood, broken-English, Asian(-ish) caricatures are problematic, those lines became well known because we recognize an important teaching here. What is the role of "trying" in your daily life? What would it be like to truly stop "trying" and simply do and not do?

Share the Plate for May: Refugee Pandemic Support
The pandemic has impacted the lives of our vulnerable refugee population in Westchester in so many ways: delaying a job search, or a move, reducing work hours, and interrupting education and activities for children who were just beginning to acclimate to their new home. The CUUC Refugee Resettlement Social Justice Team will donate half our non-pledge collection to organizations that address refugees' short-term needs during the coming months. Donate online and select Share the Plate or make checks to CUUC with memo "Share the Plate - Refugees."
Online Offering
You can pay your pledge, donate to the Share the Plate, or contribute to our Benevolent Fund or Minister's Discretionary Fund via PayPal by clicking "Donate" at our website Or click the button below.
