Upcoming Online Worship
Sun Dec 20, 10:00am ~ Zooom Goes The Christmas Pageant
~ Rev. Meredith Garmon, et al.

Get ready to dress up and act out at home. Is this the year you're going to be one of the Wise Monarchs? Or a shepherd? Or an angel? Maybe you'd like to be Mary for this year's pageant -- or Joseph. Or one of the animals -- sheep, goats, horses. We'll be on regular Zoom (rather than our usual webinar zoom), so we can see each other if we choose to turn our video on as we act out from our homes our annual pageant.

Messages from Ministry

K-12 RE classes are on break through the holidays. We invite parents and caregivers to a RE meeting and check-in after worship Sunday, January 3rd. K-12th grade classes resume Sunday, January 10th

Our K-4th grade class will continue with a focus on justice and equity (fairness): LGBTQIA+, Race, Indigenous, Immigration, and Climate.

This would have been an Our Whole Lives (OWL) year for our youth but we do not offer sexuality education online. However, our 5th-12th grade classes will have conversations about healthy relationships and communication, gender identity, sexual orientation, managing and transforming conflict, decision making, living into our values, and justice making. The spring equity focus will be LGBTQIA+ justice.

We are also offering a wonderful series for adults who are supporting youth. Adults will have the opportunity to recall and explore their own experiences as youth, and to be intentional about how they want to support the youth in their lives who are navigating their own evolving identity and relationships. This is open to all adults, with or without youth participating, and intended to support conversations at home.

Read more HERE, and find the spring 2021 schedule.

Christmas-themed music from around the world is featured in this Sunday's solo piano offerings... Read Adam Kent's blog post here.

Email Scam of the Week

Scammers don't go on holiday! The latest fake email had the subject line “Blessings” and was from "Rev. Meredith Garmon" "ministerm.cucwp@gmail.com." Know that Rev. Meredith will never email you asking for favors, money, or gift cards. If you are ever unsure, contact the office (admin@cucwp.org). Learn more HERE.
From the Treasurer

The theme for this year’s Canvass -- “You are a Piece of the Puzzle – Together We Can!” -- holds true now more than ever. We rely on everyone's pledges, which account for more than half our total income, to continue the work of supporting one another and our community. Help us meet our budget by pledging generously, as you are able. Give your pledge confirmation to Chris Kortlandt (treasurercuucwp@gmail.com, 917-821-4289). Click here to read the full treasurer’s message.
Opportunities for Giving

Collection of NEW items for Samaritan House, and USED items for Grace Church, Now through Sun Jan 10, Drop off at CUUC
We are collecting NEW items for residents of local shelters, including underwear, socks, gloves, hats, toiletries, and more. We are also collecting gently USED winter clothing for our neighbors served by Grace Church's outreach program. Drop items off outside CUUC's doors, using our bins for small new items, and plastic bags for clothes. You must keep New and Used items separate! Please use large white plastic bags and clearly mark "Used" or "New." Learn more about our collection here. Contact: Ray Messing (914-592-4497)
Holiday Gift Idea

This year’s UUA Common Read, Breathe: A Letter to My Sons, makes a meaningful holiday gift. Breathe explores the terror, grace, and beauty of coming of age as a Black person in contemporary America and what it means to parent our children in a persistently unjust world. Order copies from InSpirit, the UU bookstore, or your local bookstore, for yourself and loved ones.
Fire at Middle Church

A message from UUA President Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray: Please consider donating generously to help our siblings in faith at Middle Collegiate Church in Manhattan, NY. Their love and commitment to rise again is an inspiration for us all. https://www.middlechurch.org/rising
