From Environmental Practices

White Plains has become the largest municipality in Westchester to establish a food scrap dropoff program. WP residents can now drop off their food scraps at Gedney Recycling Yard for transport to composting sites. Westchester residents who don't live in White Plains can encourage their municipality to take advantage of cost incentives offered by the County for dropoff or curbside collection programs. For more, see the White Plains announcement and the Westchester-wide broader program description.
From Hunger and Homelessness

Collection of Donations Continues
Snow may have cocooned us more than usual, but we still have neighbors who need our support. Please donate these necessities and leave them in the plastic bins outside of CUUC: socks and underwear; toiletries (soap, shampoo, lotion, etc.); and household cleaning products (laundry detergent, dish soap, cleaners, etc.). In addition to living our mission, helping others can feel good — so get out there and make yourself feel good! Please call Ray Messing at 914-592-4497 and leave a message so she can pick up and deliver our donations in a timely fashion. Read the full Opportunities for Giving letter here.

Email Scams Continue

More fake emails from “Rev. Meredith Garmon”
A recent subject line was your name, from “officemail1480@gmail.com” or “officemail1485@gmail.com,” with the message “...I have a request I need you to handle discreetly...” We are frequent targets of scammers who pose as ministers or leadership, asking for help or money. Do not hit Reply (it will go to the scammer). If in doubt, message the office (admin@cucwp.org). Learn more at the UUA's scam information webpage.

February Share the Plate: MLK Institute for Nonviolence
We share half our non-pledge collection this month with the Westchester Martin Luther King, Jr. Institute for Nonviolence, which has promoted nonviolent activism for social justice since 1987. Their mission is to advance racial equity for all our communities by: educating and empowering youth and adults; supporting inclusiveness, courage, and peace; and collaborating to advocate for justice, equity, and shared power for all. Mail checks to CUUC with the memo "Share the Plate - MLK" or click here to pay online, and select "Share the Plate."
