Sun Jan 24, 10:00am ~ “Biases, For Better and Worse”
~ Rev. Meredith Garmon
Our brains were built with certain biases. Some of them are good for some things, even if they're bad for other things. There isn't much we can do about them, but know they're there, and never take our conclusions as absolute truth.

Bayard Rustin was a prominent civil rights leader and close friend of MLK's. Although during his lifetime homophobia tended to marginalize recognition of his role in the struggle for racial equality, he is now acknowledged as one of the inspirations behind Dr. King's policy of non-violent resistance. Rustin had a beautiful tenor voice as well, and this Sunday's Gathering Music features a collaboration between him and James Farmer, a prominent Director of the Fellowship of Reconciliation's Congress on Racial Equality .. . Congregation Survey
2021 Congregation Survey: Racial Bias, now through Wed Jan 27
This year, the Committee on Ministry is exploring racial bias, with a focus on how we, as individuals and as a congregation, have experienced it; can recognize it; have participated in it; and can address this important concern. The survey has 32 questions, takes about 10–15 minutes to complete, and will be open until Wed Jan 27. Take the online survey here. If you prefer a paper copy, you can download the survey here, print at home, and mail to CUUC. Or you can email the office ([email protected]) to have a copy mailed to you. Thank you!
