Upcoming Online Worship
Sun Jan 31, 10:00am ~ “Longing for Belonging
~ Rev. Meredith Garmon

It's our greatest need, and lifts us into our flourishing. Yet it also makes us susceptible to mob psychology, groupthink, support of authoritarianism, and anxiety about people we think don't belong. In our need to belong, we can deny belonging to others. But a world where everyone belongs is possible.
Sun Feb 7, 10:00am ~ “Names
~ Rev. Meredith Garmon

In a study, a resume for “Tyrone Smith” got fewer call-backs by prospective employers than an otherwise identical resume for “David Smith.” In other ways, an “ethnic sounding” name can feel very positive. It's complicated. The way we're called shapes and informs how people think of us -- and how we think of ourselves.

PreK and Older Children: Families continue using the online UU Parents of Preschoolers (POP) curriculum. Login information is in the RE newsletter.

K-9th Grade & Adult Classes Meet Sun Jan 31
All log in to Zoom 8428 then move into class breakout rooms. Click HERE for login times and links.
K-4th Grade Class: Last Sunday, the children finalized wording for the CUUC children’s version of the 8th Principle (to be shared soon!). This Sunday, children begin exploring ways to include the 8th Principle in the song they sing to remember all of the Principles.
5th-7th & 7th-9th Grade Classes: As UUs, we strive to relate to others in fair and kind ways. Youth will reflect on the time, energy, attention and patience needed to cultivate healthy relationships, and explore what they consider the most important parts of a healthy relationship for themselves.

10th-12th Grade: We are suspending Sunday RE classes for 10th-12th grade youth (no gathering this Sunday). Check the RE newsletter for information about new plans.
Parents & Caregivers Class: Guiding Relationships with Wisdom. This session helps parents and caregivers consider how they can support their children in developing the skills for healthy relationships with friends and partners. Classes are open to all adults, with or without youth participating, and intended to support conversations at home. Visit the class doc HERE for resources, session handouts, and questions to reflect on at home.

Read more HERE, and find the spring 2021 schedule with dates and topics. Sign up to receive the Weekly RE Newsletters, which include at-home resources.

The polar drives to assimilate and to differentiate find expression in this Sunday's musical selections. From the communal folk dances echoed in Mompou's intimate Canciones y danzas, to the diverse polyphonic threads of a Bach fugue, and the symphonic richness of Mozart's keyboard writing, some of the solo piano music evokes communal integration... Congregation & Community News
Our Faith Family

We are sorry to share that Al Rocchi's mother, Rina, passed away on Thu Jan 21. She was 93 years old. Rina immigrated to the US from Italy in 1958 with her three young children (Al was 5 years old) to join her husband, Antonio, in NYC. Rina was the classic Italian mother and grandmother who loved nothing more than cooking a big Sunday meal for her extended family. Our collective hearts go out to Al, Robin, and their family.

Join the PlaceKeepers to appreciate, improve, and maintain the grounds of CUUC, our spiritual home. Come visit the Spirit Fire, and help us tend our springs and paths. Got waders? Music Lecture Audit Opportunity

Music Appreciation, Tuesdays, 10:00-11:15am, starting Mon Jan 25 through Thu May 13, Rm 5149

With lecture classes held online for spring semester, Prof. Adam Kent is pleased to invite CUUC members to audit these weekly Zoom sessions. No commitment necessary, just join us whenever the spirit moves you.
Email Scams Continue

You may have received a fake email from “Rev Meredith Garmon”
A recent subject was “REQUEST,” from “rcp62559@gmail.com,” and the message said “...Could you please spare a minute to assist me in completing a task discreetly...” Faith communities are frequent targets of scammers who pose as ministers or leadership, asking for help or money. Never click Reply (it will go to the scammer). If in doubt, message the office (admin@cucwp.org). Learn more at the UUA's scam information webpage.
Caring & Sharing

If we can help you or someone you know in our congregation, reach out to Barbara Mair (barbara.k.mair@icloud.com, 914.391-5382) or Joan Traber (joantraber@yahoo.com, 914.617-9622). You may also contact the CUUC office (admin@cucwp.org).
