2021 Aug 1 | Summer #6
Upcoming Online Worship
Sun Aug 1, 10:00am ~ “You Gotta Serve Somebody
~ Irene Cox, guest lay worship leader

Most of us feel we “should” engage in service. But what if the personal rewards of service go beyond “feeling good” and in fact do us more favors than what it provides to other people? It may be time to consider service from a somewhat different perspective. Irene Cox is a member of CUUC.
Sun Aug 8, 10:00am ~ “Hospitality: Lessons from the Pandemic and Ed Sheeran~ Catherine Kortlandt, guest lay worship leader

Paradoxically, the sudden forced isolation imposed by the pandemic reminds us of the bedrock of hospitality: our yearning for connection and its twin, anxiety. Catherine Kortlandt is a member of CUUC.

Racial Bias Assessment: Update

For 2020-2021, the Committee on Ministry (COM) explored the issue of racism through the lens of racial bias. Last winter, the COM conducted a congregational survey and interviewed various committees to gather data, which they then used prepare a report for the Board of Trustees. COM members presented the report at the July 14 Board retreat, and a discussion of the findings followed. A steering committee of members from the Board, the COM, and the Racial Justice Team will collaborate next week on a response to the COM's recommendations. Learn more in the message from Board Chair Joe Majsak. Click here for the full “Report of the Committee on Ministry Racial Bias Assessment 2020-2021.”
Our Faith Family

Congratulations to Rev. Petra Thombs, who was ordained at CUUC in May, and will now serve as part-time minister for the UU Congregation of Central Nassau (UUCCN) in Garden City, NY. Rev.
