Upcoming Online Worship
Sun May 30, 10:00am ~ “Why Remember?"
~ Rev. Meredith Garmon

100 years have passed since the Tulsa Massacre of 1921. We remember atrocities -- even if we feel in little danger of repeating them -- for many reasons. Because there is celebration amidst the grieving: that we, as a people, have survived even this. Because the seeds that produced past wrong are ever within the human breast and must be continually recognized and not ignored. Because the honoring of the lives lost, and their accomplishments, assures evil's triumph is not final. Click here for additional resources shared by our In the Spirit of Truth/Racial Justice Team.
Sun Jun 6, 10:00am ~ “Learning and Growing During Times of Uncertainty
~ Tracy Breneman & Religious Education Committee

It has been a unique year for Religious Education, one that demanded new approaches and flexible planning to respond to shifting needs and circumstances. We will celebrate our accomplishments, honor our volunteers and Bridging youth, and take an optimistic look at the year ahead.

The Time for All Ages story in worship this Sunday is Unspeakable: The Tulsa Race Massacre by Carole Boston Weatherford, illustrated by Floyd Cooper. Amy Nathan reads it for us. This picture book sensitively introduces young readers to the tragedy and concludes with a call for a better future. It is a telling of what happened in Tulsa on Black Wall Street in 1921 in a way that is appropriate for children. Read more and find resources to support conversations here.

Religious Education (RE) classes do not meet this Sunday. The RE Announcements & Resources doc has information for all ages, plus local events and community needs. Sign up to receive the weekly RE newsletter

It's often been conjectured that jealousy — the natural complement to entitlement — was one of the driving forces behind the destruction of the largely African American community of Greenwood, Tulsa. The community was professionally accomplished and highly educated. This Sunday's Gathering Music includes recordings by the legendary contralto Marian Anderson... Annual Meeting
CUUC Annual Meeting, Sun Jun 6, After Worship
We will be holding our annual meeting online again this year. Click here for the Annual Report booklet, here for the proposed budget, and here for the list of nominees. If you would like to be mailed a paper annual report, or know another Member of the congregation who would, please contact the office (admin@cucwp.org).
Celebrating our Choir
The Association for Unitarian Universalist Music Ministries (AUUMM) recently held a Virtual Choral Festival celebrating the work of member musicians and their congregations. For the UUA Central East Region, not one but two music videos from the CUUC Choir were shown (the only choir to be so honored)! Congratulations to Lisa Meyer, director, and Georgianna Pappas, accompanist, along with our wonderful singers, for their hard work and artistry. One of those music videos, "You Will Be Found," is scheduled for a "Choir Reprise" at this Sunday’s service.
No More Books
We are repurposing the bookshelves in Fellowship Hall, so we will no longer accept used book donations for the “give one, take one” exchange (which saw a lot of “gives” and not enough “takes”). If you have old books that need new homes, check with local libraries, or organizations like Goodwill, Salvation Army, or GreenDrop that might accept donations.
A Second Look
For those who missed the wonderful flower celebration slideshow at last Sunday’s service or would like to see it again you can click here to watch the video. Many thanks to everyone who sent their beautiful photos and to Kim Force for editing them together so artistically!
