Start the New Year Clean by Removing
Paper Clutter from Your Storage

Teachers with graphic communications or arts programs could help free you of the clutter and in return, your business will receive a tax-deductible receipt for the value of the paper donated. The R.A.I.S.E. Foundation helps these programs which run almost without a budget with paper and any office supplies donated by members for the year.
Glenn Laird, the graphic arts instructor at Eagle Rock High School, has been participating in the Surplus Drive for over two decades. The school boasts an extensive graphic production facility, with multiple inkjet printers, a 24” all black film printer, screen printing equipment, sublimation equipment and more.

“I am usually able to get 500 to 1000 pounds of paper at the Surplus Drive,” Glenn shares, “primarily large format white sheets. The paper is all used for the things that our students print for other schools in the district—we’re currently producing printed products for about 60 schools within LAUSD—as well as for non-profit community groups and other governmental organizations. We print everything from posters and banners to t-shirts, mugs, awards and more. We do this work on a cost-only basis, and the donated paper enables us do production work at minimal cost.”

Low costs, of course, help attract more work, and more opportunities for Glenn’s students to increase their graphic production skills. After they graduate, many of Glenn’s students go on to the Graphic Communications Technology program at Pasadena City College, and then transition out to find jobs in the printing field.

Your State & Federal and IWC Posters Need to be Replaced for 2019
With the new year, as a business, one of the main things to remember is that compliance is key. Many regulations have been updated or introduced for California in 2019. Your 2018 posters will be considered outdated and you will not be in compliance.

PIASC is excited to be able to save our members nearly 25% vs. 2018 prices and offer both the California State posters and the Federal posters at a combined price of $18.50. All other posters have also gone down in price.

Important things to know:

  • The updated California State & Federal 2019 posters include important revisions to the California Minimum Wage Notice and the Discrimination Notice.

  • The mandatory IWC #1 and IWC #4 posters have both been updated. The new 2019 version will replace the 2017 version.

  • Depending on your operations, your company may also be required to display additional notices, such as forklift safety, fire extinguisher use, safe lifting and/or blood borne pathogens.

  • Also available are posters on sexual harassment prevention, code of safe practices, fire aid/choking/CPR, California fair housing, California human trafficking, HIPAA, Workers Compensation fraud, and more.

Avoid fines and penalties by pre-ordering your posters. Posters will be printed and shipped once the state approves all updates.

Questions about what posters you need? Contact Cheryl Chong , Director, Human Resources, 323.728.9500, Ext. 218
