OPEN CALL from inkjet-bioAM for inkjet medical product & pharmaceutical manufacturing projects (awards to 60,000 euros)


The inkjet-bioAM seeks projects for the incorporation of inkjet technology into the value chain for manufacturing of medical and pharmaceutical products. Areas of need are biomaterial inkjet inks, further optimization of multi-material inkjet printing processes, and GMP-compliant inkjet printers. Projects will be carried out on inkjet-bioAM's three pilot lines.

Epson announces Direct To Shape Printing System that combines PrecisionCore printheads and Robots


Direct to Shape Printing System is an innovative solution that combines Epson's smallest PrecisionCore (S800) printhead with an Epson industrial robot. This small size allows printing on complex shapes such as grooves and curves. A 6-axis robot and lifting mechanisms that independently raise and lower the printheads are used in combination to allow Direct to Shape Printing System to flexibly accommodate printing on objects from different angles with high quality and accuracy.

Megnajet Expands JetSource Product Range for High Productivity Applications


Megnajet has expanded its high-volume JetSource product range with the development of a new fluid management system, specifically designed for even wider multi-printhead inkjet applications. The JetSource HFR can support six to eight, making it ideal for users with bar-based systems or wider application requirements for up to 4 litres of recirculation. The launch of Megnajet’s JetSource Core and the new JetSource HFR fluid management system allows OEMs to harness the benefits of high-productivity printheads and printbar-based architecture.

For the past 25 years, I’ve worked across visual communication, commercial printing, and metal packaging industries. Within the inkjet world specifically, I’ve operated equipment, managed color profiling, automated prepress workflows (including for offset systems), overseen production, and collaborated in the development of coatings for improved adhesion and print performance. This broad exposure allowed me to understand the entire inkjet ecosystem—not just as a set of components, but as an integrated production reality.

My conclusion is simple: what inkjet single-pass innovation needs is not another machine—it needs a new production standard.

XPlor International Ceases Operation! Xplor Certification Program will continue under another organization


Xplor International, the worldwide electronic document systems association, has closed its doors after more than 40 years. The Xplor website will remain active throughout 2025 and the Xplor Certification Program will continue under the management of another organization with more details TBA. xTool uses Kickstarter to fund new Apparel Printer


Nearly 1,000 backers have pledged $5,691,987 to help bring this project to life via this unique fund raising effort on Kickstarter! The xTool Apparel Printer claims to be the first apparel printer to fully automate the printing-to-baking workflow designed for both single sheet and bulk production. It uses Epson i1600 printheads and can deliver printing at 720x1800 DPI. It also includes an AI image generator, an AI image restoration, and smart nesting for efficient design layout and reduced waste.

A Pioneer is Lost - Remembering Dr. Harvey Levenson, A Force in the printing industry.


Our friend Harvey Levenson passed away at the age of 83 earlier this month. We were honored to have Harvey participate and share his knowledge and insights at IMI conferences. His most recent contribution can be seen in his "Interactive Publications" blog. A longtime educator, author, consultant, speaker, & industry expert witness, Harvey served as professor emeritus and past head Graphic Communication Department at Cal Poly.
