RIT integrates print and graphic media into packaging science
RIT’s print and graphic media technology curriculum is being integrated into the packaging science program to align with growing and evolving industries. Prospective students are now being directed to the BS degree in packaging science, where they will be able to take coursework that emphasize competencies increasingly vital in the fast-growing packaging sector such as manufacturing processes, materials science, color management & packaging print technologies. Conventional and digital printing processes remain foundational within the curriculum.

Heidelberg USA opening new USA HQ featuring "Print Media Center Americas - Home of Print"
Heidelberg USA will be moving to a new NA headquarters in Marietta, Georgia, The highlight will be a new showroom and training center where customers can experience the company's latest technologies and end-to-end solutions for the print and packaging markets. Intentionally designed for efficiency and innovation, 50% of the space is dedicated to demonstration and training, The modern showroom will highlight Heidelberg’s latest technologies and solutions – supporting demonstrations for customers in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico as well as hosting industry events, workshops, and customer meetings. A Grand Opening event will be held later in 2026.

Samuel Schär is the new CEO of Bühler Group
Samuel Schär assumed his position as Bühler CEO on January 1. He succeeds Stefan Scheiber, who is proposed as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors at Buhler's Annual General Meeting in February 2026. Mr.Schär joined Bühler 20 years ago and established the Nanotechnology business unit. He then led the Grinding & Dispersing business area for several years, before joining the Group Executive Board in 2013 and successfully leading the Advanced Materials segment for 10 years. He later took over responsibility for the Global Services & Sales organization. Buhler digital ink manufacturing solutions combine revolutionary MacroMedia pre-dispersing and MicroMedia+ fine grinding to create superior inkjet and digital UV inks.

A 2025 Milestone: 3D Systems NextDent® Jetted Denture Solution received FDA Full Commercial Release
This first-to-market solution for jetted, monolithic (one-piece) dentures utilizes multiple materials in a single printing process to deliver a durable, long-wear, prosthetic to the patient. Using the NextDent 300 MultiJet 3D printer and two FDA approved dental materials (NextDent® Jet Teeth and NextDent® Jet Base).enables rapid production of patient-specific dentures that are fully cured and safe to handle without the need for additional post-curing steps. 3D Systems estimates the US market -addressable by 2029 - for dental replacements, straightening, protection, and repair to be $1 billion opportunity for the integration of 3D printing.

From screen printing to inkjet printing
Fraunhofer IPA's project with Ritzi Industriedrucktechnik GmbH investigated whether screen printing inks can be digitally processed by inkjet. Rheological analyses and initial pressure tests confirmed the feasibility with the aim of transferring these materials into digital manufacturing processes. Utilizing Marabu GmbH screen printing inks in the Quantica NovoJet™ OPEN Printer, the aim was to combine the variety of materials and the specific properties of screen printing inks with the fast, contactless application of the inkjet process. Fraunhofer IPA analyzed key material properties such as viscosity, surface tension, particle size and compatibility with the print head. Through targeted adjustments, such as dilution, the inks were made inkjet-compatible. The initial successful print tests pave the way for innovative digital printing solutions.
