FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JULY 22, 2020
On Thursday, July 16, 2020, the Board of Trustees approved a reopening plan for the Cypress School District for the 2020/21 school year.

On Friday, July 17, 2020, the Governor announced that schools located in a county on the state’s COVID-19 monitoring list may not reopen until 14 days after the county has been removed from the list. This announcement impacts Cypress School District because Orange County is currently being monitored by the state.

Despite this new development, the district will continue to plan for implementation of its Board-approved reopening plan. The first day of school has been delayed to give staff additional time to create classes and reconfigure classrooms. Regardless of Orange County’s status on the state monitoring list, the first day of school in the Cypress School District will be Wednesday, August 26, 2020, even if we must begin the new school year with a Distance Learning schedule for everyone until we can resume on-campus instruction as described in our plan.

We invite you to review our reopening plan, which is available on the district website.
