Cypress School District Welcomes Three New Leaders for 2018/19 School Year!

Following a rigorous selection process, the Cypress School District is pleased to welcome three exceptional leaders to its administrative team.

Kimberly Benaraw – Principal, Margaret Landell Elementary School

Mrs. Benaraw has taught elementary and middle school grades in both public and public charter schools located in Southern and Northern California. In addition to her classroom experience, Mrs. Benaraw has served as Principal and Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for Aspire Public Schools. Her areas of expertise include English language development, Response to Intervention/Instruction, technology, blended learning, and the Next Generation Science Standards. Mrs. Benaraw earned a Bachelor of Arts in Asian American Studies from the University of California, Irvine; a Master of Arts in Education from Pepperdine University; a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from San Jose State University; and is presently finishing her Educational Doctorate in K-12 Education Leadership at California State University, Fullerton.

Mark Holman – Principal, Frank Vessels Elementary School
 
Prior to his appointment as Principal in the Cypress School District, Mr. Holman served students, teachers, and parents in the Fountain Valley School District for 12 years. He taught sixth grade for eight years before moving into educational administration. In his previous role as Assistant Principal, Mr. Holman forged community partnerships to further the mission and goals of his school’s STEAM Academy. His areas of expertise include writing instruction, small group instruction, and cognitively guided instruction in mathematics. Mr. Holman is also a certified educator in Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) and is skilled in the delivery of differentiated instruction. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University, Long Beach and a Master of Science in Educational Administration from California State University, Fullerton.
 
Teresa Lennox – Director, Maintenance/Operations, Transportation, and Technology

With over 20 years of experience, Mrs. Teresa Lennox brings a wealth of expertise to her position as the district’s new Director of Maintenance/Operations, Transportation, and Technology (MOTT). Formerly a Senior Program Manager with Schoolhaus Advisors Inc., she worked on the district’s school modernization projects and has first-hand knowledge of each school campus and the district’s facilities. Prior to her appointment as Director, Mrs. Lennox managed the information technology systems in the Savanna School District.  While she possesses a wealth of knowledge in all areas of MOTT, she understands and appreciates the complexities of teaching and learning, too. Mrs. Lennox earned a Bachelor of Science in Child Development Studies from California State University, Fullerton; a multi-subject teaching credential from California State University, San Marcos; and a teacher librarian credential from Azusa Pacific University.

These outstanding new leaders are committed to fulfilling the district’s mission to inspire and empower every student, every moment, for every opportunity! 

They look forward to meeting students, working with parents, and partnering with our local community when school begins on August 9, 2018.
