Draft Budget Presentation Wednesday, May 18, 2016
|
Members of the public are invited to attend a presentation on the City's Fiscal Year 2016-17 draft budget during the May 18 City Council Meeting. The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers, 1424 Mission Street, and begin at 7:30 pm. The City Council will hear the presentation on the draft budget for Fiscal Year 2016-17 and take public comment.
The Draft Budget presentation is one of several opportunities for the public to learn about and provide input during the City's budget process. It comes on the heels of the April 27 Budget Study Session, where the Council
reviewed the proposed Capital Improvement Plan and staff funding requests, and accepted public comment on the proposals. Prior to that, City staff held a Community Forum on Budget and Priorities on March 12, where over 40 community members participated in meaningful dialogue with City staff about the collective interests of the City and began to set priorities for the budget.
The input received at the Draft Budget Presentation will be used as the City Council and staff work towards finalizing the budget in June.
At the June 1 City Council meeting, the City will hold a public hearing to discuss the proposed budget and, potentially, adopt it. Public comment is strongly encouraged.
Information on the current City budget and the budget process is available at
www.southpasadenaca.gov/budget. For additional information on the Budget process, please contact the Management Services Department at (626) 403-7210 or email

City Council Requests Input as to Whether to Join SGV Vector Control District
|
South Pasadena is one of a few cities in San Gabriel Valley that is not in the service boundaries of any special district specifically created for providing mosquito surveillance and vector control services.
Why Join
? South Pasadena does not offer mosquito surveillance and vector control services to our residents. The Public Works Department receives calls from residents requesting these services throughout the year, specifically during the rainy season. These services are provided by special districts in the region, therefore it is prudent to have the mosquito and vector control services available to the residents.
The City Council is soliciting public input prior to making the decision whether to join or not join the the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District.
You can submit your input in one of three ways:
Public Works Office
1414 Mission Street
South Pasadena CA, 91030
- In person- An item will be on the June 1, 2016 City Council agenda, and public comment will be taken at that time. The City Council meeting begins at 7:30 pm in City Council Chambers.
Go to www.southpasadenaca.gov/vectorcontrol for more information

Sewer Rehabilitation and Replacement Project Phase 2 Coming Soon!
|
The City of South Pasadena will commence construction of the Sewer Rehabilitation and Replacement Project Phase 2 in the next several weeks. This project is the second phase of a City-wide project to repair aging sanitary sewer lines.
You can assist by checking the health of your sewer lateral - the line that goes from your building to the public sewer line. Maintaining the lateral is the property owner's responsibility, and includes keeping the line flowing and free of debris such as roots, grease, and backed-up tissue paper. Clean, flowing laterals avoid back-ups into your property and do not leak sewage waste into our groundwater. Now would be a good time to have your lateral checked by your plumber. Residents and property owners should be on the look out for notifications specifying project construction start dates in your neighborhood.
