Draft Budget Presentation Wednesday, May 17, 2017
|
Do you wonder where your property taxes go? Are you curious about how your City decides which street sections to repair next? The City of South Pasadena, like many local governments, makes these and other important decisions through the annual budget process, which takes place between March and June each year.
The input received at the Community Forum and Special Council Meeting will be used as the City Council and staff continue the annual budget process. At their May 3, 2017 meeting, the Council will discuss current reserve levels and big ticket items, including facilities improvements and the replacement of vehicles and equipment. At the May 17 City Council meeting, staff will present a draft budget for Fiscal Year 2017-18. Finally, at the June 7 City Council meeting, the City will hold a public hearing to discuss the proposed budget and, potentially, adopt it. Public comment is encouraged at each meeting.
Click here for additional information on the Budget Process.

Plan South Pasadena Update
|
The process for updating the City's General Plan and Mission Street Specific Plan is moving forward to the next stage of public engagement following the conclusion of the Charrette on April 28, 2017.
The various focus groups will reconvene during the summer to review draft documents relating to their area of focus. The documents will form the building blocks for the draft updated General Plan and Specific Plan, based on the vision developed during the Charrette. These draft documents will be consolidated into a draft General Plan and draft Specific Plan. The drafts will be presented at a joint meeting of the Planning Commission and City Council in November, at which they will be asked to endorse these documents to use as a basis for the required Environmental Impact Report.

Monterey Road Street Improvement Project
|
The Monterey Road Street Improvement Project has been completed. Some of the improvements to Monterey Road were pedestrian push button upgrades, repairs to sidewalks, ADA curb ramp installations, and traffic signage. This project will increase safety for pedestrians and relieve traffic congestion on one of our most traveled roads. Infrastructure was also enhanced through underground utility work, water meter and fire hydrant replacements, and storm water drain connections.
The City of South Pasadena thanks you for your patience during construction. We realize it was an inconvenient but necessary project that we hope will serve South Pasadena well for many years to come. Click here to learn more about this project.
