November/December 2025

Greetings,

As we move through the holiday season and toward the close of the year, our schools are reflecting on the values that matter most—gratitude, kindness, and service. Throughout November and December, students across the district have found meaningful ways to give back, honor others, and support their community through thoughtful actions and shared experiences. The stories that follow highlight how learning and character come together during this special time of year.

Sincerely,

Anne Silavs, Superintendent

Honoring Service

The annual Veterans Day assembly brought students, families, and staff together for a meaningful tribute honoring those who have served. Veterans were recognized through music, poetry, and patriotic songs. Student-made care packages were presented to veterans and active-duty service members, reinforcing lessons of gratitude, service, and appreciation that extend beyond the classroom.

Student Leadership in Action

Student leaders demonstrated compassion through an annual holiday food drive supporting the H.O.P.E. assistance program. They organized and promoted a schoolwide collection of macaroni and cheese to help stock holiday food baskets for local families. Through teamwork and planning, the school community rallied around the effort, showing how student leadership and service can make an impact close to home.

Choosing Kindness

A schoolwide week focused on gratitude and kindness highlighted the importance of compassion for others. Students participated in read-alouds centered on appreciation, then contributed to a Kindness Rocks Garden by painting uplifting messages. With support from families, the project resulted in a colorful campus display that serves as a lasting reminder of inclusion and positive connections.

Sharing Holiday Cheer

The school community came together to support a holiday toy drive benefiting children in local hospitals. With the help of students, families, and staff, new toys were collected to bring comfort and joy to young patients during the holiday season. The effort reflected a shared commitment to generosity, empathy, and supporting others during this meaningful time of year.

Giving Back, One Bowl at a Time

Student leaders organized a “Fill a Bowl, Fill a Heart” food drive in partnership with the Cypress Community Center. The drive focused on collecting breakfast cereal and shelf-stable milk to help families start their day with a nutritious meal. By addressing a specific community need, students demonstrated thoughtful planning and a strong commitment to service.

Spreading Joy Through Giving

Students organized a schoolwide toy drive in December. Families were invited to donate new, unwrapped toys to support children and families in the local community. The drive encouraged students to practice generosity and kindness while learning that even small contributions can help bring joy to others during the holiday season.
