JOIN OUR TEAM! We are looking to fill a few key positions
|
The Athletic Booster Club needs you to join our team!! There are so many ways to get involved. Currently we need four to five parents to fill our open positions for the year. Please let us know if you have a specific interest or any particular skills that would be helpful to our Club. We welcome new ideas and believe the more parent involvement, the stronger we are.
IMMEDIATE NEED - This Weeks Events Blast: We are looking for someone to publish our "This Weeks Events" e-blast. Work off the Team Schedules to produce weekly email. Can be done each week or you can create and schedule the blasts for the entire season at one time. Super easy and can all be done at home on your computer. Email Sandra Ferron for more information.
Fundraising:
Work with Team Parents and Coaches to promote eScrip/Amazon Smile. This is free money to us each year and we need someone to help increase subscribers by getting the word out to teams and parents. Email
Sandy Engdahl
for more information.
Community Partners:
This is a great way to promote College Park Athletics. We want to partner with local businesses to sponsor our sports programs while we promote their business. This is a fun and easy position for someone already involved in our community or wants to become more involved in our community. Email
Jeff Eide
for more information.
Publicity/Correspondence: Help promote our sporting events by getting events published in the free section of local papers/websites. Also, responsible for writing thank you notes to large donors. This can all be done from home on the computer.
Email Sandy Engdahl for more information.
Crab Feed Team: Our Crab Feed is an annual event and is our biggest fundraiser of the year! We have experienced Committee Chairs looking for help with Sponsorships, Donations, Food and Beverage, Raffles and of course the Auction. The event will be held on February 4, 2017 but we are looking for team members now (no tryouts required)!
All the work is done in 5 short months, so don't be shy. This is a great way to get involved and meet other parents working to make College Park athletics stronger. Grab a friend and join a bunch of other parents having fun. Email Chris Croft for more information.

The Varsity team played in the Freedom Jamboree on September 3rd winning 7 out of 9 games. This was the first major event for the Varsity team this season and they came out playing hard. The Falcons serving was over the top with Courtney Turner and Julianne Bhak leading the team with an 85% serving rate. The team finished with 16 blocks led by Adrianna Vinogradov, Carly Carpenter and Gillian Kefer. Strong hitting by Juliette Hoepker and Marissa St Marseille highlighted a very good day for the lady Falcons.
The JV team has won 3 of its last 4 games and has been very impressive. The JV team will play in there first tournament this weekend in Fremont.
The College Park freshman team continued their wining ways in the Daugherty Valley tournament this weekend. Lead by the outstanding setting of Emma Mendoza and serving of Maci Babb the lady Falcons rolled to a top finish in bracket play. The outstanding defensive play by Isabella Torres combined with hitting/blocking from Holly Jordan took the team to the semi finals. The tournament featured 16 of the top freshman teams in the bay area. The freshman team won 3 games in bracket and 1 game in elimination play before dropping a game in the semi finals to Monte Vista's Frosh/Soph team. Out of 16 teams the Falcons finished an impressive 3rd overall.

CROSS COUNTRY
|
MARTINEZ, Calif. - Saturday, September 10, 2016
This year's 32nd Ed Sias Invitational at Hidden Valley Park had over 50 teams and 2900 runners competing in the 2-mile race. This race is on College Park's "home" course. Our very own 2015 Hall of Famer, Steve Nesheim, who coached at College Park for 15 years in cross country and tranck & field, designed the Hidden Valley Park cross country course and created the Ed Sias Invitational, named for College Park's other Hall of Fame coach and contributor Ed Sias, Sr. The Ed Sias course at Hidden Valley is one of the premier cross country courses in all of California.
At 9:00am the gun fired and 230 runners in just the Boys' Frosh Unlimited race took off down the grassy soccer field. The runners then made their way through mostly dirt trail, some paved pathways, a bridge crossing and up the almost verticle finale hill to the finish chute. Freshman
Alec Beyer ran a very respectable time of 13.31.9 to finish first for this group of Falcons. Also running their first race was
Bailey Keck (14:26.5),
Oliver Watts (14:36.5),
Kyle Pickle (15:01.0),

GIRLS WATER POLO |
The Varsity Girls Water Polo team led by Coach Lauren Seidemann (3rd Season) and new Assistant Coach Cheyenne Havens started off the season with a loss to Amador Valley (12-5) and Washington (11-10). After working hard at practice and scrimmages over the past 2 weeks the Lady Falcons earned their first win of the season with a solid 5 goal victory over James Logan last week (13-8). The team was led by (Jr) Sam Romak who was named Player of the Game. Sam dominated at the Center position scoring 3 goals and
drawing 4 ejections. Her efforts led to 2 penalty shots that were converted successfully by (Jr) Jaime Pitcher. The offensive attack was led by (Sr) Becca Monroe who scored 4 goals and had 2 assists along with (Fr) Caragh Osborne who added 3 goals and 1 assist. The defense created multiple turnovers throughout the game with (Sr) Alyssa Mikesell and (Fr) Sammi Monroe recording 3 steals each. Goalies (Fr) Bridget Webster and (Jr) Georgia Meyer came up with big saves to help seal the victory.
The JV Girls Water Polo team is also off to a great start and has 10 new players with many of the girls playing water polo for their first time. After losing to Amador Valley (12-4) in its first game the JV team won 3 games at the American HS Polopalooza tournament over Labor Day weekend. Last week the JV team defeated Washington (12-4) with (Fr) Lauren Katz being named Player of the Game for her superior offensive and defensive play. In addition to her 3 goals, 2 assists and 3 steals, Lauren motivated the team on and off the bench with fantastic communication and enthusiasm. Team Captain (Jr) Kayla Schoelkopf also provided leadership for the young team and scored 6 goals, had 3 assists and 3 steals.
