MESSAGE FROM ABC PRESIDENT JEFF EIDE

As the school year comes to an end I would like to thank everyone that supported the Athletic Booster Club (ABC) this year and wish all our senior student athletes success in the next chapter of their lives. With your continued support we look forward to providing more services and raising more money for our student athletes in the 2018-2019 school year. We are always looking for volunteers that can assist us in our mission support athletics at College park. If you would like to help, please fill out the interest sheet mentioned below. We will not have a June meeting due to school getting out the first week of June. Look for announcements over the summer of committee gatherings and social mixers.

Our May 14th membership meeting was well attended and our Athletic Director, Jim Keck, presented his 5-year plan for athletics. We discussed how the ABC can help him with his plan and two main areas that overlapped our goals were: raise money for capital improvements and increase the number of volunteers willing to help get things done. The slide show from that presentation is available on the athletics website or by clicking here. At the meeting we handed out an interest sheet for everyone to fill out. You can find that form by following the link to the presentation above. Feel free to complete the form and either drop it by the office, email it to us or mail it to the school, Attn: Athletic Booster Club. If you would like to discuss how you can help the ABC please contact me at president@cpathleticboosterclub.com.

Elections are this month for our officers and sports reps. Although all incumbents are returning, the nominations are open. If you would like to run for either President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer, or take a sports representative position, please submit your name to secretary@cpathleticboosterclub.com by June 8th..Elections, if necessary, will be held by electronic ballot in June.

ABC SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
Every year the College Park Athletic Booster Club awards a number of $750 scholarships to some exceptional student athletes.  This year, we had a record number of applicants, and we were able to award six scholarships.

All of the applicants were more than qualified and well deserving, which made it very difficult for the committee to decide.

The six final recipients demonstrated excellence both in their classrooms, and on their respective fields of play.  They exemplified honor and leadership throughout their tenure at College Park, and were the embodiment of class and character on their teams and in our community.

The CP Athletic Booster Club is proud to award the following ten student athletes with an athletic scholarship in 2018, and we wish them great success in their future endeavors:

TRACK & FIELD SENIOR PROFILES
Back Row from L-R: Kenji Watanabe, David Oiwa, Andrew Orellana, Coach Gil, Coach Trish, Coach Treigh, Nate Tesfaye, Frank Oiwa, Myles Peecher
Middle Row from L-R: Sophia Llamas, Parker Grube, Jonathan , Logan, Amber Lanza,
Front Row: Reyna Winn and Emily (Gaby) Orellana

Amber Lanza  has run track all four years that she has been at College Park. Her favorite part of track is getting to spend time with her pole vault team and the other hurdlers. She plans on attending San Diego State University this fall to study biology. She would like to thank all of her teammates and coaches for making her years running track so memorable.

Natnael Tesfaye  goes by Nate "just because it's easier for people to say." Nate has been running with College Park High School track and field team for 3 years. He did not run track freshman year because he was really shy but by sophomore year he became more social and joined track. "I love this sport because I had amazing coaches, teammates and the best team mom Lorraine. I wouldn't like track if it wasn't for Coach Gil, Coach Trish, coach Castro and coach Treigh." Nate wants to thank all his coaches for teaching him so much about track, and if it wasn't for them he wouldn't be on the team. The best part of Track is his teammates; "I love those guys more than anything." Nate couldn't ask for a better team. His favorite memory of track was when Jake PRed on the 400m. "It was insane because I told him he could do it, well he proved me right." His other favorite part was his 4X400 team. He loved running with those guys more than anything and they were all aiming to breaking the school record. He will be going to DVC so he's not going to be far from my teammates and will be running cross country with one of his current teammate Gaby Orellana in fall 2018. Nate will be majoring in Business.

Parker Grube  has been participating in Track & Field for 9 years. He began the sport in 3rd grade with the local CYO. Parker's favorite part of the sport is spending time with the friends he has made and creating memories that will last a lifetime. He especially enjoyed traveling with the Pole Vault team to the Pole Vault Summit in Reno. After high school, Parker plans to study mechanical engineering and music at San Jose State University and he hopes to continue to compete in cross country and track & field. Parker also enjoys playing the saxophone in the College Park Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Symphony Orchestra.

Myles Peecher  started track when he became a freshman in high school. "Honestly when I joined it I wanted to quit." Though after meeting people and experiencing the thrill of running races at a track meet, it was so fun that Myles stayed in the sport and continued running. In his freshman year he started out running the 200M, 400M, and relays. In sophomore year he began hurdling. His favorite moment of track was meeting everyone on the team and talking about how much practice "really sucked" and how sprinters knew exactly what day was when they had to run a 250 meter or longer. The most memorable moment of his track career in high school was a teammate in track getting him to actually hurdle as he always thought it was way to technical for him to accomplish and seeing everyone fall looked bad but he was able to hurdle and train with amazing people which made him try harder. His future plans after high school is to attend SFSU under a bio major to later go to med school. Myles also plan to further his track experience and run track in college.

Emilie Cevallos  - this is her first and last year doing track. She always wanted to join track and field and other sports, but many barriers always got in the way. Having a difficult medical background she never had the chance until now. When she got cleared, she thought she wasn't ready. "That's when a great friend of mine,   Myles Peecher, took my hand and dragged me to that field. I was introduced to the most incredible, inspirational, and kind hearted person I've ever met, Coach Treigh. And that's when it started." Although she had an obvious lack of experience, she always strived to push myself every practice. Every day was a special moment, the bonds she made, the support she has, the laughs, it's all such an amazing experience to Emilie. Her most memorable when we made a little surprise for Coach Treigh and everyone hugged and cried, showing their appreciation and love for our Coach Treigh. As for the future, she is going to attend California College of the Arts this Fall, and major in industrial engineering and design.

David Oiwa  has been on the CP track and field team for 4 years. He enjoys sports and hanging out with friends going to the movies. David made it to NCS this year in the pole vault. 4. All 4 years of track was memorable for David. He wants to thank his coaches for getting him to where he is today, especially coach Dave Holland. His plan after high school is to "make enough money to build a pole vault pit in my backyard!"

Frank Oiwa  enjoyed track from the very first time he tried it back as a freshmen. Back then Parker Grube was the first to tell him to try pole vault, and he did and is so grateful for it. One memorable moment was when Frank found out that he made it to NCS this year. This will be my first and last NCS meet and he was super excited to compete this year. He will be attending Sand Diego State University next year majoring in Mechanical engineering. Frank is hoping he can find a club pole vault team down in San Diego so he can practice down there as well.

Andrew Orellana  thought this has been a great last season of Track and Field. He doesn't really have a favorite moment because he's enjoyed everything about Track, from the hard days at practice to the long days at invitational meets. One of his most memorable moments, however, was going to NCS for the first time his sophomore year to run for the 4x400 team. Andrew not only got to run an exciting race, but got to see all the amazing runners who made it to NCS. "It was a little intimidating, but what I felt that day inspired me to work harder so that one day I could run with everyone there on equal ground." As high school comes for a close for him, Andrew is getting ready to attend UC Berkeley. He's going to be majoring in civil engineering and he's going to try to continue my track career there.

Natalie Christensen has enjoyed her four years with College Park Track & Field.  She started with Pole Vaulting because it seemed like a lot of fun.  Natalie competed in several different types of events and enjoyed them all but she realized she's not a distance person.  She settled in mostly on Pole Vault and Hurdles.  Natalie's favorite times have been at the Pole Vault Summits in Reno.  "We have such a great team."  She will be doing track in college too.  She has signed up as a biology major but may switch to chemistry

COLLEGE PARK JV FALCONS SOFTBALL - UNDEFEATED!

UNDEFEATED!!!!

Such an incredible word....an even more incredible achievement. And this is just what the CPHS J.V. Lady Falcons did in 2018 as they just finished their league season off with a PERFECT 16 win, ZERO loss season!!

This all didn't happen overnight. This accomplishment came about with a team of girls that had played together on either Summer travel ball or in the PHBA system over many years. You could see this team experience on the field when they played. Girls knowing the on field situations at all times allowing them to perform at an elite level with no hesitations as they did so. They showed there was no "I" in "TEAM" as they bonded together to congratulate their teammates when they excelled, but also picked their teammates up if they were in a slump or having a bad game. They never hung their heads if down in the game, but instead they would dig in and do what it took to secure each and EVERY win.

This season, Falcons fans, was definitely one for the ages!!! A shout out to the Coaches (Adam Flynn/Scott Wood), the players, the fans and, of course, the parents that supported these girls, not only during this season, but during ALL the past seasons, practices, lessons and simply playing catch and pitching to your girls that you've done for years. KUDOS TO ALL INVOLVED in this CPHS JV Lady Falcon season!! BOO-YAH!!!
