This Sunday, May 8, we will celebrate Episcopal Community Services of NJ Sunday, giving thanks for this diocesan initiative of which we are proud to be a founding congregation. ECS-NJ proactively addresses human need and works against injustice throughout NJ, and supports congregational efforts to build the Beloved Community for all creation.

Worship & Baptism next Sunday, May 15, 10 am
Join us for our Sunday worship service on Sun. May 15 which will include the baptism of St. Bernard’s parishioners Russ and Carol Anne Pagana’s granddaughter Hazel Caplinger.

we will celebrate the launch of the
St. Bernard's Food Drive for
Foodbank Network of Somerset County & Feeding America BackPack Program
On Sun. May 15, Jenny Moss will host Coffee Hour after worship to celebrate the re-launch of our Food Bank Drive and BackPack Prorgram! Parishioners are invited to bring food for the drive on that Sunday.
For Feeding America BackPack Program, individual portions:
Snacks: raisins, fruit cups, pudding, granola bars
Mac & cheese, Ramen, Tuna
Oatmeal packets, small cereal boxes
Shelf stable milk, Juice boxes

We will continue collecting for the Food Bank Network of Somerset County and the Feeding America Backpack Program. You can drop the following nonperishable goods in the recycling bin to set up in front of church:

Cereal (hot/cold), Mac & cheese, Soup

GARDEN BLESSING ON MAY 22, 12 pm
Garden Blessing in 2019!
Volunteer sessions are now open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm. Cathy Ferrara our Garden Leader will be away for a while so we’ll need a backup leader and volunteers to go help at the garden. St. Bernard’s first week to lead is on Saturday, May 28th.

UKRAINE CRISIS-PLEASE HELP!
Please consider helping Ukrainian families! Our immediate support will help Episcopal Relief & Development and other Anglican partners provide humanitarian assistance to people fleeing the violence in Ukraine. Your gift will help provide cash, blankets, hygiene supplies and other needed assistance to families from Ukraine.

Donations to Episcopal Relief & Development’s Ukraine Crisis Response Fund will provide humanitarian assistance for the crisis in Ukraine.

Reparations Commission
Learn more about the work of the Diocese of NJ’s Reparations Task Force this past year, through the video and written report to Diocesan Convention. The Task Force became a diocesan commission at Diocesan Convention on March 5. Pastor Beth was a member of the Reparations Task Force and now serves on the Reparations Commission. She is featured in the video and also compiled the written report.

THE HOMEWORK HELP AND ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We are happy to announce the Homework Help and Assistance Prorgam is again up and running! The program will run Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3 pm to 5 pm and will follow the schedule of the SHSD.

Summer Solstice Music Festival at Ross Farm

Save the date for June 18, 3pm to 10pm to come see our Parish Administrator and members of the St. Bernard's Choir who sing in the Somerset Hills Chorus at The Ross Farm - Basking Ridge for a Summer Solstice Music Festival featuring a variety of musical merriment spanning multiple genres and traditions. 

The mainstage event will be a riveting performance of Carl Orff’s thrilling cantata, "Carmina Burana," in a popular arrangement for two pianos, percussion, three virtuosic vocal soloists, and a large chorus consisting of the Somerset Hills Chorus and Downtown Voices from New York. 
ANTI-RACISM TRAINING
Parishioners are encouraged to take Anti-Racism training offered by the Diocese of NJ. Cost $100. Training takes place on 5 Friday evenings over Zoom with reading and video homework in between meetings and a follow up session 1 month later. For info: https://dioceseofnj.org/commissions/anti-racism-commission/

Donations can be made by check, made payable to 
The Community Fund (also a 501(c)3), and either mail it or drop it at St. Bernard's Church Parish House. 
Baptism available

Please contact Pastor Beth, if you are interested in baptism for yourself or your child this fall. Bishop Stokes is allowing small baptism services with social distancing, masks, and parish representatives.
