Clergy Reflection

Today, I invite you to pray with me the words that were prayed yesterday at the gubernatorial inauguration.

Invocation by Bishop Donte L. Hickman, Sr., Pastor of Southern Baptist Church, Baltimore on the occasion of the Inauguration of the 63rd Governor of the State of Maryland

O Lord Our God, how excellent is your name in all the earth!
How we thank you for life, health and strength,
and for things being as well as they are.
And we thank you for giving us this beautiful day
to witness this historical and transformational occasion:
to inaugurate, consecrate and celebrate Wes Moore and Aruna Miller
as the new Governor and Lieutenant Governor of the State of Maryland.
Yoga Church - This Sunday @ 5:00 p.m. in the church
Yoga Church is an experiential and embodied worship experience integrating yoga, breath work, meditation and Holy Communion. Yoga Church connects the spirituality of mind/body/spirit awareness and integration with the promise of Jesus: “The Kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21). The Yoga Church experience offers community as we worship Christ on our yoga mats and brings awakening to Christ Consciousness. Bring your heart, mind, body and mat. Chairs are available if you wish to sit. No sign-up is necessary. Please arrive early to sign a waiver and settle in.
A caregiver's support group is a place where caregivers can share expertise, concerns, and experiences in a safe, supportive environment. We are exploring interest in forming a Caregiver’s Support Group for all forms of caregiving here at Redeemer.
If you or someone you know is interested in being a part of such a group or in having more information about this support group, please contact Freda Marie+ or 410-435-7333 x 228.
AmiciMusic presents "The Russian Cello" this Friday, January 20 at 7:30 at The Church of the Redeemer featuring works for cello and piano by Balakirev, Shostakovich, and Rachmaninoff. Alicia Ward, cello and Daniel Weiser, piano are the performers. Suggested admission is $15 for Redeemer members. Children are always free.
Silent Movie Night has been rescheduled to Friday, February 3 at 7:30 p.m. because of the death of our original guest organist, Michael Britt. Dr. Jason Roberts, a fantastic improviser from New York, will be our guest organist providing accompaniment to "The Navigator" with Buster Keaton. Popcorn and beverages will be provided. Mark your calendars, tell your friends and family to join us for a fun evening.
Ruth's Sisters Retreat- February 4

If you are a woman in “mid-life”, transitioning from the “first half” of your life into “the second half” — perhaps contemplating a new job or career change, an empty(ing) nest and/or retiring (as some examples), and navigating the ways in which your body, mind and spirit are changing as well — consider joining Ruth’s Sisters. Ruth’s Sisters is a group of women loosely ages 45 to 65 (70?), grounded in faith, reason, tradition, experience and curiosity, ever open to the movement of God’s spirit in and through us.

The Rev. Cristina Paglinauan and the Rev. Arianne Rice invite you to a women's retreat on Saturday, February 4 from 10 am to 4 pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Arianne+ will share and lead our group on the topic of Living: B.I.G. - living with boundaries, integrity, and generosity in all of our relationships, based on the work of best-selling author Brené Brown. There will be time for personal reflection, small group discussion, and lots of laughing! Cristina+ will lead us in body and spirit mindfulness exercises for all ages and abilities, including gentle yoga and breathing. Email Cristina or Arianne to learn more. Click here to sign-up to attend.

Saturday lunch: You can bring your lunch or have a box lunch from The Lunchbox Lady provided for $20. If you'd like a boxed lunch, please indicate in sign up below, including food restrictions or allergies in comments section.  Martha Ruffin is coordinating lunch order.

Friday Night for Redeemer's Ruth's Sisters: Redeemer's Ruth's Sisters (women navigating mid-life transitions in body, mind and spirit, grounded in community and spirituality) will have the opportunity to eat dinner and dance together the night before our Saturday retreat. Email Cristina for more details about Friday evening.
Updated acolyte sign ups!
All youth grades 4 and up are invited to serve as acolytes at Redeemer! Sign up for a service between now and Pentecost here. Most spots are for 10 am Sunday Eucharists, but Evensong and Holy Week services are included as well. • We'll meet every Wednesday in Lent from 6:30-8 pm.
  • We'll cook a simple meal and share it as part of our time together each week.
  • Confirmands will also attend J2A and acolyte on Sunday mornings.
  • For youth turning 15 this year and older. If you are younger but feel ready for confirmation this year, please let Rebecca+ know!
Sign up here to provide dinner for RYG! We are hard at work on our annual play – this year it’s Disney’s Descendants – and need your help to fuel our singers, dancers, and stage crew. Thank you for supporting Redeemer’s youth!
Children at Redeemer
Last week in Sunday school, we focused on Jesus choosing the disciples, and telling them they would be “fishing for people, and remembering the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, who also responded to a call from Jesus.
This week, we will read stories offering perspectives on the same passage from Matthew, which will be this week’s Gospel. Our activities will help children reflect on Jesus’ call and how we can all find ways to respond.
Special thanks to all who have generously offered their time to step in to help as coordinators on Sunday mornings during Liz Kallmyer’s absence!!

  • What can you do to help support children’s programs at Redeemer?
  • Parents/guardians—please REGISTER YOUR CHILDREN and please SIGN UP TO HELP!! Our children need their adults around them supporting them in their rebuilding!
  • Parishioners at large—if you would like to work with children’s programs, please contact Jan Schroeder
  • Please keep our children, adults and programs in your prayers!
