Clergy Reflection

Dear members and friends of Redeemer,

As we step into this new year and celebrate the season of Epiphany, I find myself drawn to the image of light—how it reveals, how it guides, how it transforms everything it touches.

The Great Reveal

Epiphany means "manifestation" or "revealing," and in these weeks following Christmas, we witness Jesus revealing himself in extraordinary ways. The Magi follow a star and find the newborn king. At his baptism, the heavens open and God's voice declares, "This is my beloved Son." Jesus goes throughout Galilee, teaching in synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, curing every disease and every sickness among the people. Light upon light upon light—each revealing more of who Christ is and what his coming means for the world.

Community Organizing Training - January 17, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This training (offered at the Diocesan Center, 4E. University Parkway) is planned for the weekend when our nation remembers the prophetic and justice-driven ministry of Blessed Martin Luther King, Jr., whose work embodied the power of Jesus’ command to love our neighbors with boldness and intention. Dr. King understood that love becomes transformative when it is organized: when people come together, build power, and act for the sake of God’s justice and peace. As a diocese, we are seeking to grow, with God’s help, as a community of love in action.

This training will introduce and strengthen the practical skills of community organizing:

  • listening in order to act
  • engaging in leadership development
  • discerning shared values, mutual self-interest, common concerns, and what God is already doing in the world
  • organizing for power that reflects Jesus’ way of compassion, courage, and truth

2026 Stewardship

O God, grant us wisdom and courage for this day: a discipline that helps us become the people we aspire to be, the strength to overcome the obstacles we encounter or create, a path to navigate local and national tension. The Spirit at Redeemer sustains us, and our pledge expresses palpable thanks: “I am your disciple Lord, and I commit to bring healing through my steps. I stand in solidarity with this community of faith, and I will serve God alongside them.”

A commitment of a pledge says "Yes. We're all in! We belong here."

Weekday Service Schedule

Monday mornings @ 8:00 a.m. on Zoom. Join Keith Johnson for Morning Prayer. Rooted in the Book of Common Prayer, this time-honored practice of psalms, scripture, and prayer helps center our lives in God as the week begins. Click here to join on Zoom.

Tuesday mornings @ 8:00 a.m. in the church. Join David Ware for Holy Eucharist and a lively exchange on the Gospel reading.

Wednesday mornings @ 8:00 a.m. in the chapel. Join Cristina Paglinauan for Embodied Eucharist which invites gentle stretching, mindful breathing, guided meditation or centering prayer followed by a simple Eucharist. Yoga mats are welcome but are not required.

First Wednesdays of the month @ 12 noon in the chapel. Join Keith Johnson for a Healing Eucharist. This service includes Holy Communion and prayers for healing, offering space to bring before God the needs of body, mind, and spirit, as we seek God’s grace and wholeness.

Thursday mornings @ 8 a.m. in the chapel. Join Josh Laws for an Ignatian Eucharist in the chapel beginning January 8. Ignatian Prayer is a centuries-old approach to spirituality that seeks to weave together the stories of our scriptures, the experiences of our lives, and the God who is present throughout it all. This Eucharist will invite us to practice imaginative prayer, each week entering into one story from the Bible and letting Spirit bring it to life.
