Holy Week begins not in stillness, but in movement. This Palm Sunday weekend, we do not simply remember a story, a procession - we join one. We gather with palms in our hands and hope in our voices. We walk together - singing, praying, waving branches and signs lifted high. We cry out, “Hosanna!” a word that is both praise and protest, both blessing and plea: “Save us!”

2026 Vestry Nominations- Due March 31

A vestry is the equivalent of the “board” of an organization. The vestry consists of lay leaders who, along with the rector, are the legal governing and decision-making group in the church. They are responsible for the finances of the church, its buildings and grounds as well as hiring and supporting the well-being of the rector.

Redeemer's vestry has 4 vacancies to fill for a three-year term ending in spring 2029. The vestry Nominating Committee seeks candidates with leadership skills, particularly people who are strategic and visionary thinkers. We also look for people who work well in groups with a consensus model of decision making. Please note: In accordance with our by-laws a vestry member must be a giver of record and a member of The Church of the Redeemer by baptism or letter of transfer. If you have questions about these requirements, please contact Ellen Chatard.  

Vestry nominations are due in the church office by March 31, 2026. The Annual Meeting will take place on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

Sacred Space for Grace

Have you lost someone you love? Sacred Space for Grace begins Monday, April 20th from 5:00 - 6:15 p.m. This ministry of Redeemer is open to parishioners and members of the wider community who are experiencing grief following the loss of a loved one. It is a place to share with others who have known the weight of loss. The gathering meets in a small, closed-session format for six weeks, and members benefit most when they are able to attend all sessions. For questions or to register, contact the Rev. Keith Johnson.



Sunday school begins at 9:45 in the classrooms. Anna+, Liz and extra helpers will be at the doors at 9:30 to welcome all teachers, students, and parents as they arrive. Students and teachers join worship at the Peace.

Celebration of the Arts 2026!

The spring art show will run from Easter (4/5) through Pentecost (5/24). 

 *** All artists: Please bring your work to church this Friday, March 27 between 1 and 5 p.m. or on Sunday, March 29 before the 10 a.m. service and after, until 12 noon. ***

The show is open to artists of ALL ages. Artists will have the option of marking their work for sale. In keeping with Redeemer's commitment to community partnership, it is suggested that 30% of the proceeds from the sale of the art be donated to the Govans Elementary School for the purchase of art supplies. Please note the following important details:

Celebrating the Great Fifty Days of Easter: The US Army Soldiers’ Chorus

On April 11 at 6:30 p.m., the Saturday after Easter, the US Army Soldiers’ Chorus will be presenting a concert at Redeemer. This 24 voice ensemble travels throughout the nation and abroad performing separately and in with the Concert Band of the Musical Ambassadors of the Army. Their programs entertain and are appropriate for audiences of all ages. We hope that you will invite family and friends to join you for this free concert.

AmiciMusic, an award-winning chamber music organization, returns to the Church of the Redeemer on Saturday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. for another exciting concert entitled "CELLO POWER" featuring cellist Alicia Ward and pianist/Artistic Director Daniel Weiser. They will perform lyrical and powerful works by Debussy, Schuman, Grieg, and Cassado. Tickets for Redeemer parishioners are $15 and general admission is $20. Children are always free. The choir and clergy invite you to join us in the chapel on Palm Sunday afternoon for The Passion of Christ: Meditations in Words and Music. The story of Christ’s Passion will be told through the Gospel of Matthew, poetry, hymns, and choral music. Monday mornings @ 8:00 a.m. on Zoom. Join Keith Johnson for Morning Prayer (30 minutes). Rooted in the Book of Common Prayer, this time-honored practice of psalms, scripture, and prayer helps center our lives in God as the week begins. Click here to join on Zoom.

Tuesday mornings @ 8:00 a.m. in the church. Join David Ware for Holy Eucharist and a lively exchange on the Gospel reading.

Wednesday mornings @ 8:00 a.m. in the chapel. Join Cristina Paglinauan for Embodied Eucharist which invites gentle stretching, mindful breathing, guided meditation or centering prayer followed by a simple Eucharist. Yoga mats are welcome but are not required.

First Wednesdays of the month @ 12 noon in the chapel. Join Keith Johnson for a Healing Eucharist. This service includes Holy Communion and prayers for healing, offering space to bring before God the needs of body, mind, and spirit, as we seek God’s grace and wholeness.

Thursday mornings @ 8 a.m. in the chapel. Join Josh Laws for an Ignatian Eucharist in the chapel. Ignatian Prayer is a centuries-old approach to spirituality that seeks to weave together the stories of our scriptures, the experiences of our lives, and the God who is present throughout it all. This Eucharist will invite us to practice imaginative prayer, each week entering into one story from the Bible and letting Spirit bring it to life.

O God, grant us wisdom and courage for this day: a discipline that helps us become the people we aspire to be, the strength to overcome the obstacles we encounter or create, a path to navigate local and national tension. The Spirit at Redeemer sustains us, and our pledge expresses palpable thanks: “I am your disciple Lord, and I commit to bring healing through my steps. I stand in solidarity with this community of faith, and I will serve God alongside them.”

Rector's Bible Study

If you never thought you would study the Bible, then this is the class for you! Join us in person or on Zoom for a far-ranging, free-wheeling, intelligent and emotionally honest discussion of this amazing resource. The Wednesday morning class meets from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in person in the Women's Council Room and on Zoom. The Wednesday lunch time class meets from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Zoom (only) and the Thursday evening class meets at 6:00 p.m., in person only in the Women's Council Room.

With so many new faces among us – both in the congregation and among our staff members – we encourage everyone to wear a name tag. The name tag table is located in the narthex. If you already have a name tag, please find yours in the bins alphabetized by last name.
