Clergy Reflection

Let us pray. All of our fears like Jericho walls gotta come down, come down, Oh Lord: rebuild us from the ground up. All of our fears like Jericho walls gotta come down. Our prisons turn to ruin when your love moves in. All our fears like Jericho walls gotta come down, come down, come down. (based on the song Jericho Walls by Andrew Ripp)

That the scripture appointed for our Annual Meeting 2021 is set on a wilderness road sounds about right—this year it’s familiar territory for most of us. But Philip and the man he encounters in the book of Acts are on their way home… they get through. And so will we.

Unease, anxiety, tension, stress, worry – all forms of fear – are caused by too much future and not enough presence. Guilt, regret, resentment, grievances, sadness, bitterness, and all forms of nonforgiveness are caused by too much past and not enough presence.

This week’s Gospel reading is from John 15:9-17, which says, in essence, that God loves and wants us to love and care for each other. In our current atmosphere of conflict and fear, conversations at home about the concepts of kindness, gentleness, love and care can be helpful and inspiring. As we approach Mother’s Day and honor those who love us so much, you may want to look with your children at the picture from “The Sunday Paper,” and talk together about ways to show love for each other..

Gardening and Spring Cleaning in Johnston Square

Come join our community partners in Johnston Square on Saturday, June 5 from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. for a morning of gardening and “spring cleaning” around the neighborhood, cleaning up sidewalks, streets and gutters. Paul's Place
Paul's Place Camp Returns!

We are excited to announce that, as in past years (with a hiatus the last couple of summers), Redeemer will be hosting a week of summer camp for Paul’s Place from July 19-23 themed “Makers on the Move!” Campers will be engaged in a variety of creative, fun learning activities — including making music, food, arts and crafts — that will keep their bodies, minds and spirits on the move!

We are not asking for monetary donations this go-round, thanks to the generosity of donors from previous years. However, your gifts of time and talent to share with our campers is most welcome!

If you are a youth or young adult and interested in volunteering, please contact Rebecca.

Other adults interested in volunteering or with questions, please contact Cristina.

Thank you!
