Clergy Reflection

Dear Folks,

What does it mean to be a member of the Church of the Redeemer? Lots of things, as it turns out! Because the ways and reasons we come here are so varied, we’ve learned that it’s wise to define membership in a variety of ways, too. In fact, maybe it’s better to say that everyone belongs here, and then encourage the dimensions of belonging to be worked out by each individual.

It's Sign-up Sunday!

This Sunday after the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. services we invite you to sign-up for a role in our Sunday morning liturgy for the month of June 2025. Bring your phone to scan the QR codes (assistance available) and sign-up to be an intercessor, lay eucharistic minister or usher. Also available will be the opportunity to signup to be a reader in June or July.

Facilities Staff Position

Redeemer is now accepting applications for a new, full-time (Sunday through Thursday), salaried facilities staff position. The facilities staff person will be responsible for helping out with a wide variety of custodial, maintenance, and program support services. Download the job description here. If you know of anyone who might be interested in the position, please contact Mark Schroeder, Director of Facilities.

80's Strong

Those who are 80+ are invited to join us this coming Tuesday, May 13 at 11:30 a.m. to explore How Fairy Tales Tell the Story of Aging: Exploring and Owning Our Inner World. Lunch is provided.

This Week in Sunday School

During Eastertide, we celebrate the Risen Christ and explore how we might live as Easter people. This Sunday’s theme is all about Jesus the Good Shepherd. Classes will learn Psalm 23 and how sheep relate to a shepherd as a way to understand how Jesus leads and protects us.

Sunday school begins at 9:45 in the classrooms. Anna+ and Liz will be there at 9:30 to welcome all teachers, students, and parents as they arrive. Questions and requests can also be emailed to Rev. Anna, Director of Children’s Ministries. Beginning June 15, Sunday morning activities for children shift to story time during the sermon. This year’s Sunday school program will conclude on Pentecost Sunday, June 8.

New students are welcome any time of the year! Please register them hereRedeemer’s Sunday School program welcomes three age groups: Pre-K (ages 3 and 4), grades K-2, and grades 3-5. Nursery care is available for children under the age of three. Contact Rev. Anna, Director of Children’s Ministries, with any questions.

Fatherhood & Faith

Initially started as a community to explore what it means to be a father today, share stories and advice, and just relax in a casual setting, our group is not just for fathers anymore. If you are interested in getting to know other men at Redeemer, and discuss life in these times, please join us this Wednesday, May 14, 7:30-9:00 p.m. in the Cloister room. For more information contact Dave Frisch, Ted Winstead or Paul Smith. Hope to see you there!

Interfaith Rally for Immigrants

Redeemer is part of an Interfaith Coalition, along with the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, Bolton Street Synagogue, Grace United Methodist Church, and others, organizing monthly rallies to support the immigrant community – a community of explicit concern and protection (e.g., Leviticus 19:34 “Do not mistreat foreigners living in your country, but treat them just as you treat your own citizens.”; Deuteronomy 10:19 “Love foreigners, because you were foreigners.”; Matthew 25:35 "I was a stranger and you welcomed me").

The next rally is Sunday, May 18 from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Northern Parkway and Charles Street. Will you join us? Questions? Contact Charles Gamper

Can't make it on May 18? Sign up for Be the Change Bmore newsletter to learn about other upcoming/weekly rallies.
