Clergy Reflection
“Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.”
(The above quote, often attributed to the Talmud, is a loose translation of commentary on a portion of the Pirke Avot, which is itself a commentary on Micah 6:8. See Wisdom of the Jewish Sages: A Modern Reading of Pirke Avot by Rabbi Rami Shapiro.)
***
The words above landed in my inbox weeks ago, courtesy of a friend, and they have been simmering in the soup of my soul ever since.
I find them particularly relevant and meaningful today, as I continue to reflect on and “be with” the information and research presented by our history committee, on Redeemer’s role in the institution of slavery.

Sunday School
This Sunday, Pre-K and K-2 will be reading the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30). This story reminds us that God gives each of us talents and wants us to use them. Our gifts are to be tools, and we are entrusted with building others up through our blessings. Our lesson considers how we can be stewards, not just of money, but of our time, resources, and abilities. When we share what we have with others, ultimately, we wind up with more than we started out having. We are blessed to pass on good things to others, and we give back to God in thanks and gratitude.
Drama and Donuts (grades 3-5) are working hard to prepare for their performance of Noah's Ark. The date of the performance will be announced at a later time.
As the weather turns, please be sure to keep children home who are sick, so we can all stay safe and healthy!
Sunday School classes begin at 9:45 and children will be escorted to the service after the sermon.
Nursery care is available for children under the age of three.
Register for Sunday School here.
Please contact Colleen Everett, Director of Children’s Ministry, if you’re interested in becoming a part of our wonderful program!

Who Are We?? Redeemer Census 2023
Please help Redeemer to update our records! We want to be sure we know who you are and have your most up to date contact information. Additionally, every year the national Episcopal church requests that all congregations complete a parochial report. The report now requests information on the ethnicity of our constituency which is something that we have never recorded. The census should take less than five minutes to complete. Click here to complete the census now. Thank you!
