Clergy Reflection
This summer I spent several days on a college friend’s farm in Texas. I had gone there, in part, to offer some support after her husband experienced a work accident and ruptured a tendon. Farm life does not stop simply because someone gets hurt. There were gardens to tend, animals to feed, and the ever-present need to watch out for fire ants. I was grateful to put my hands to work and, in some small way, help carry the weight of the season.
Of all the farm projects and chores I got to help with, the one that stays with me most is tending the bees and harvesting honey.

Experience a Sound Bath
Jenny Ehrhardt brings this ancient healing art to Redeemer with her practice involving crystal bowls, bells, song and rattles, lovingly offered to open hearts and nourish souls. This gathering is both personal self-care and an act of communal care. As everyone receives, they will also be invited to send love and peace outward through shared prayer and collective intention. Join us on Sunday, October 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the church. Bring a rug or mat to sit or lie down on; a comfy blanket or two and perhaps a pillow. If you'd like to reserve a spot, please email Sarah Ross with the subject line: Sound Bath. This event is open to all people, sponsored by Ruth's Sisters.

VOICES: Judith Sandler
Oct. 14 Judith Sandler is the author of "What Kind of Mother: A Reckoning." One review of the book calls it a "poignant, brilliantly written evocation of what it means to come to terms with a child's addiction and mental illness and in the process one's own struggles and history overcoming secrecy and shame." Sandler raised her children in Baltimore and now lives in mid-coast Maine.

Monthly Coffee Connects Resume
With the weather turning cooler, our monthly Coffee Connect will resume October 18, following the 10 a.m. Sunday service in the Parish Hall. Plan to come and enjoy time with old friends, and take the opportunity to welcome new folks to our community.
Thank you to the vestry for hosting us this month. Starting in November, we will ask other small groups at Redeemer to coordinate each monthly coffee. We are emphasizing fellowship over fanciness with simple coffee hour fare–not a heavy snack or lunch–so that we can focus on what really matters: connecting with each other.
The Coffee Connects are scheduled for Nov. 15, Dec. 6, Jan. 10, Feb. 7, March 7, April 18 and May 23, 2027.

In this special video, they share some of what they’ve discovered and teach us a few things about this beloved saint. We hope you enjoy learning from them!

Confirmation Class for Youth
Do you have a youth who is 15 or turning 15 in 2027 who may be interested in deepening their faith through confirmation? Confirmation is the sacramental rite through which baptized Christians affirm their mature faith. Classes will begin in January for a spring 2027 confirmation.
We will meet regularly for about eight weeks in the spring; days and times will be set and shared in the winter. Confirmands will serve regularly as acolytes and readers during church throughout the year and attend monthly service activities with other parish youth. Sign up for confirmation. Contact Josh Laws with questions.

Handbell Choir Returning to Redeemer
We are thrilled to announce that a handbell choir is returning to the Church of the Redeemer. Originating in 18th-century England, handbells have become part of worship in churches worldwide. Playing handbells is a fun, low-pressure way to join others in musical fellowship and add to the beauty of worship.
Are you interested in ringing? Whether you’ve played before, or it’s your first time, ringers of all experience levels (high-school age and above) are invited to reach out as we start to think about rehearsal times, repertoire, and a schedule for ringing at services. If you are interested, please contact Bert Landman, Director of Music Ministry or Alex Mendelsohn, Handbell Leader.

Tuesday mornings @ 8 a.m. in the church. Join David Ware for Holy Eucharist and a lively exchange on the Gospel reading.
Wednesday mornings @ 8 a.m. in the chapel. Join Maria Cristina Paglinauan for Embodied Eucharist, which invites gentle stretching, mindful breathing, guided meditation or centering prayer followed by a simple Eucharist. Yoga mats are welcome but are not required.
First Wednesdays of the month @ noon in the chapel. Join Keith Johnson for a Healing Eucharist. This service includes Holy Communion and prayers for healing, offering space to bring before God the needs of body, mind, and spirit as we seek God’s grace and wholeness.
Thursday mornings @ 8 a.m. in the chapel. Join David Ware for an Ignatian Eucharist. Ignatian Prayer is a centuries-old approach to spirituality that seeks to weave together the stories of our scriptures, the experiences of our lives, and the God who is present through it all. This Eucharist invites us to practice imaginative prayer, each week entering into one story from the Bible and letting Spirit bring it to life.

2026 Stewardship
O God, grant us wisdom and courage for this day: a discipline that helps us become the people we aspire to be, the strength to overcome the obstacles we encounter or create, a path to navigate local and national tension. The Spirit at Redeemer sustains us, and our pledge expresses palpable thanks: “I am your disciple Lord, and I commit to bring healing through my steps. I stand in solidarity with this community of faith, and I will serve God alongside them.”
A commitment of a pledge says “Yes. We’re all in! We belong here.”

With so many new faces among us – both in the congregation and among our staff members – we encourage everyone to wear a name tag. The name tag table is located in the narthex. If you are new to us or can’t find your tag, please make a temporary one with the supplies provided and sign up for a name tag on the clipboard.
