Coats for Kids, October 13th
8-11 a.m.

In need of coats, snow pants, hats, gloves or boots for your children?  Be sure to come to Coats for Kids for new or gently used winter gear.  This is for girls and boys of all ages, while supplies last!  Spread the word! Children must be present to receive the items.

Ascension Window Reclamation Project

Thank you to everyone that purchased stained glass items last Sunday and for bids on the Silent Auction.  We made enough that I was able to take a check to Eddie Heselroad to pay for the silent auction panels, $2,700.  With the auction of those panels ending on the 21st at 10:15 a.m. and the money from our small item sales we are in good shape to pay for the Ascension Window reclamation.  I will give an estimate of final sales on the 21st.   You can be proud of the support you've given this project.

I have had some inquiries about ordering specific items.  I will do this if I have the pieces to do the job.  Lori Janssen is the other main church artist and you can ask her if she has time to do it.  I know some people were disappointed that we got down to just 6 larger pieces by the end of the sale.

I made some more necklaces and a few sun-catchers for this Sunday, but when they are gone, they are gone; unless you contact me.   I really want you to have some of our history in your home in this form and will try to accommodate for a week or two and then I need a break.  Contact me at petefishj@mchsi.com

There has also been interest in doing the stained glass workshops this winter now that you have seen what is possible. We have more stained glass so we should use it.  I would not consider a workshop until around February, but I would need actual commitments to do this because it is a lot of set-up and work.  Watch the e-Skinny, bulletin and newsletter for sign-up opportunities.

It's Operation Christmas Child gift time!
Please prayerfully consider participating in this ministry benefiting children around the world.  Boxes will be available in the Narthex October 21st.  You may designate your box for a girl or boy for one of the following age groups:  2-4 years, 5-10 years, or 10-14 years.  Fill the box with gifts, fun toys, school supplies--a list of gift suggestions is available at:   samaritanspurse.org/occ     A recommended donation of $9 is to be placed in the designated envelope inside the box to cover shipping.
Return to St John by Sunday, Nov 11, as that week our volunteers will be taking the boxes to our regional drop off.  Please remember there are custom regulations prohibiting candy, chocolate, food, or toothpaste.  Other items not allowed are:  liquids, lotions, toy guns, knives, military figures, medications, vitamins, aerosols, glass, or used or damaged items.
"The Greatest Gift" Gospel booklets will be added.  You can be a part of this worldwide effort to grow the Kingdom of God even in places where the Gospel has never been heard.

REVERSE OFFERING
Sunday, October 21st
Before we worship with the regular offering on
September 21st, we will pass the offering plates around
filled with slips of paper with an item needed by the local Food Box. We are asking you to purchase the item that you have chosen and then bring that item to church on October 28th Participation in this Reverse Offering is certainly optional, but the Stewardship Board hopes that you prayerfully consider taking part.
