Informational Meeting for the Congregation
The church council will host informational meetings about proposed building maintenance and improvement projects. These informational meetings will take place on Sunday, October 7th at 9:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary. They will include information about a possible new sound and video system and are to help us get ready for a Congregational Vote on Sunday, November 18th at 9:15 a.m.
Stained Glass Sale
The Stained Glass Sale and Silent Auction begins Sunday.   Beginning prices on the silent auction will be what we paid for them. Our main goal is to get some of these historical pieces into your homes and to not let them deteriorate in the church attic.  Please come on October 7, 14 and 21 and help to fulfill this effort.
If you can help with set-up, during the sale or tear-down let me know because the more help the better.  It will also make things stay organized.
The Auction will end on the 21st when the 10:15 church begins but the sale of the church made items will continue until gone, but this is the-up only time to get these items. It will continue only if we fall short of the goal.
We are not going to be making any more items until after the beginning of 2019.  We need a bit of a break.  If anyone is interested let me, Janet Petefish, know so I can gauge the interest.  It might be a good winter project for us.  There is still a lot of glass left.
Coats for Kids will be coming October 13th
As you ready your children for the coming cold winter please consider donating new or gently used coats, snow pants, boots, mittens or hats. There are many children in Charles City who will love getting a "new" coat for winter!
On October 7, 2018, parents will be meeting
with the pastor at 11:20 a.m. in the Sanctuary.
October 14, 2018
10th Grade students will be confirmed.
It's Operation Christmas Child gift time!
Please prayerfully consider participating in this ministry benefiting children around the world.  Boxes will be available in the Narthex October 21st.  You may designate your box for a girl or boy for one of the following age groups:  2-4 years, 5-10 years, or 10-14 years.  Fill the box with gifts, fun toys, school supplies--a list of gift suggestions is available at:   samaritanspurse.org/occ     A recommended donation of $9 is to be placed in the designated envelope inside the box to cover shipping.
Return to St John by Sunday, Nov 11, as that week our volunteers will be taking the boxes to our regional drop off.  Please remember there are custom regulations prohibiting candy, chocolate, food, or toothpaste.  Other items not allowed are:  liquids, lotions, toy guns, knives, military figures, medications, vitamins, aerosols, glass, or used or damaged items.
"The Greatest Gift" Gospel booklets will be added.  You can be a part of this worldwide effort to grow the Kingdom of God even in places where the Gospel has never been heard.
