Photo Directory

2019 is the year of the Photo Directory.  There are open slots for the  October 23-26 times.
Someone will be available Sunday, October 6th, to help make those appointments if you are uncomfortable with doing it yourself.
FYI:  When choosing your clothing for the pictures, this year there are some full length pictures being taken.

If you have pictures that you have taken around the church at VBS, in church or other events this year or even last year please forward them to Kathy Hoeft so they can be included in the directory.  Your special pictures will make this a special edition.

Bountiful Gardens
Has your garden produced more than you need?
Why not share it with others!
A table has been set up in the narthex so that gardeners can drop off their excess produce to share with others. Everything on the table is free for those who can use and enjoy it. We give thanks to God for this bountiful earth!

Simply Giving
The St. John Stewardship Board would like to take this opportunity  to tell you about a simple way you can guarantee your offering to  God.

It's called, Simply Giving.

Simply Giving is a stewardship program that allows anyone from
St. John the chance to give their offering through electronic funds
transfer (EFT) directly from their checking or savings account.
You determine the amount you want to give and the frequency of
your giving. Want to give $50 every week? Perfect! Wish to donate
$125 every other week? You got it! Perhaps you'd like to give
$200 once a month? Absolutely! It's easy to set up. Fill out this form, attach a voided check or savings deposit slip, put it in the offering plate or return it to the
church office.

Simply Giving assures your offering to God is given as you see fit.
It's easy, convenient and helps assure that St. John can meet its financial obligations.
For more information, please contact the church office. f
Forms are also available on the glass case in the Narthex.

Click on the above link to be transferred to the form.

Stained Glass Ministry
    will meet on September 26
at 6 p.m.
This may be the end of the workshops for the year.
We have made 44 crosses for the Stephen Ministry which was our goal.  Now we will work on sun-catchers, ornaments and jewelry.  Money raised on items we make will go into the 150th Anniversary Fund. We hope to coordinate our sale with the dedication of the Ascension Window which will be hung hopefully on Reformtion Sunday, October 27.
We are glad to give those of you that didn't get a piece of our historical glass another chance.  If you could help with the sale of these items, just email Janet at  petefishj@mchsi.com.

I would like to add an explanation for those who wonder why we are dedicating the Ascension Window this year and not wait until 2022 since it was an Anniversary project.  It's mostly because the panels are done and if we let them just set we risk them warping or being damaged somehow in storage.
We are having the stained glass sale because we are now trying to raise money for the Anniversary Year Activities.  This is not a budget item and therefore if we want something special to happen that year we need to make some attempt to fund it.  There is an account and money can be added to it at anytime if you want to make a donation or designate it as a memorial.

We hope you will enjoy finding a special item at the sale that your family can enjoy as a piece of St. John's heritage.

Coats for Kids October 12
As you ready your children for the coming cold winter please consider donating new or gently used coats, snow pants, boots, mittens or hats.  There are many children in Charles City who will love getting a "new" coat for winter.
