The Baltimore-Washington Conference is undergoing several staffing changes.
-
Deb Albrecht, currently serving in the Episcopal Office, will retire on Aug. 31. Deb has worn many hats in her 17 years at the BWC Mission Center, and currently oversees the arrangements for not one, but two, annual conference sessions across the Area. We are grateful for Deb's tenacious work ethic and her devotion to the values of the UMC.
-
Melissa Lauber, Director of Communications, retires June 30 after working for the BWC since 1991. For 30+ years, she has been a primary storyteller of the conference, and, as director, has helped equip churches and leaders with the tools they need through vital communications. We celebrate Melissa's creativity and passion for contributing to the mission of making disciples for the transformation of the world.
As the BWC prepares to restructure to create vital change, there will be several staff changes in the Baltimore-Washington and Peninsula-Delaware Area beginning July 1.
-
Rev. Bill Brown's ministry of innovative evangelism continues, with the new title of "Director of Congregational Excellence." Bill will continue to equip churches across the BWC/PDC Area with oversight of the four new Vitality Specialists who are being hired.
-

In this role, she will work with the new Central Administration team to streamline and support the administrative responsibilities of district staff, agencies, and local churches. Tonia currently serves as District Administrator for the Cumberland-Hagerstown District and has been with the BWC for 27 years in a variety of roles.
-
Christine Taylor will be working as the new Manager of Central Administration, overseeing district and conference work. Christine is currently serving as the administrator of the Baltimore Metropolitan District and leads A.I.M., the Baltimore-Washington Conference Chapter of Professional Administrators of the United Methodist Connectional Structure (PAUMCS).
-
Cheryl Cook will serve as the Area Event and Project Manager, overseeing and providing leadership and administrative support to significant events and initiatives. Cheryl currently works as the Discipleship Ministries Manager and shepherds the BWC's Young People's Ministries.
Two additional Area staff positions will be added. A Coordinator of Hispanic/Latinx and Multicultural Ministries and a Young People's Coordinator are expected to be hired in the future. Applications are now being accepted for the Young People's Coordinator. Learn more and apply.
