Truth and Reconciliation Pilgrimage to Ghana

In January 2017, a group of 23 pilgrims including the Most Rev. Michael B. Curry, his brother and sister bishops, as well as Episcopal Relief & Development leaders, supporters and several staff members, participated in a Truth and Reconciliation Pilgrimage to Ghana. Pilgrims prayed and reflected at several sites critical to the trans-Atlantic slave trade, including the Elmina and Cape Coast slave forts. They also visited Episcopal Relief & Development programs and deepened relationships with the resilient and resourceful people of Ghana.

Cursillo in Central Ecuador

EDUSC has joined forces with
The Episcopal
Diocese of Central
Ecuador to organize the first Cursillo in Central Ecuador, taking place April 20 - 22. Please pray for this weekend's participants as they embark on this new Christian experience. Below is a statement from Bishop Waldo:
It brings me great pleasure to know that the Diocese of Upper South Carolina is joining efforts with all of our brothers and sisters in Quito. Despite the world's efforts to highlight our differences, I rejoice in the fact that we can stand together in our love for Jesus Christ. This same love fuels this weekend of growth in Christ and discipleship. This love allows me to know that this weekend will be life altering, not only for the Cursillistas, but also for everyone who helped make this movement possible. We are eternally grateful for the efforts of all who prepared this event, all who will lead it, and all who are offering their hearts and souls to God as participants. May God bless you all.

The Fellowship of South Carolina Bishops will hold a second Advocacy Training and Action Day on April 26 from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. The purpose of these events is to bring the voice of the South Carolina Bishops' Public Education Initiative to the legislative process. The location of this event is twofold. Training will take place at Trinity Cathedral. After a morning of training, the pre-selected participants will head across the street to the State House to speak with elected officials about common concerns.

MORE Justice Nehemiah Action Assembly

The 2018 MORE Justice Nehemiah Action Assembly is on
Monday, April 23rd at 7:00pm
at Brookland Baptist Church. More than 1,500 community members will gather to present well-researched, proven best practices to address injustices in the area of Education (high rates of suspension/poor school climate) and Mental Health. These findings will be presented to local public servants and press for positive changes in these areas by asking for very clear, measurable commitments in a format in which everyone has a seat at the negotiating table.

, the Aiken Action Network of Episcopal Peace Fellowship will host a spring forum entitled
Honoring Social Justice: What, Where, Why, and How?
at St. Thaddeus Church of Aiken. Micheal Harris, Managing Editor of the Aiken Standard newspaper will serve as moderator. Panelists include Police Chief Charles Barranco, Dept. of Public Safety; The Hon. William Clyburn, Rep, South Carolina House of Representatives; Councilor Camille Furgiuele, Aiken County Council; Mayor Rick Osbon, City of Aiken. Mr. Harris explained, "I've been at the Aiken Standard less than a year, but I've seen a growing awareness and mutual deepening concerns as to how each of us can understand the multitude of social justice issues. Awareness is the beginning. Now we need to learn how to respond. The 2018 Spring Forum will be a springboard."
