Reflection for Worship . . .

Luke 9:51-62

Most of us know the Rev. Andy Schwiebert from his tenure as founding minister of aSpire and associate minister here. He writes:

"My reflection title is 'Wherever You Go' and I will be asking everyone to dig a little deeper with their/our faith and go beyond polite, acceptable (and lukewarm) faith to something more feral and heartfelt. Some passion-filled music would be awesome. Thank you for all that each of you do!!! So looking forward to being at FCC on the 30th!!"

Randy VanDeventer will be providing much of that passion-filled music. Come and be filled!

July 20 - Christmas in July: Aaron Shows, organist
There is so much great Christmas music - why not enjoy it mid-year? Always striving first to connect emotionally with audiences of every age through music, Aaron Shows' performances and compositions often bridge the traditional and modern.

Friends in Deed - Back to School Event Volunteers

FID wanted to reach out to FCC regarding their Back-to-School event. They want to see if we have some folks that would want to help on the distribution days starting July 30, 31, and August 1, four or five volunteers, from about 9:30am until 11:30am would be great, then 2 or 3 in the afternoon.
Please contact Lu Nguyen or Anne Cohen if you are interested.

From Carl Whidden - Widden Realty Inc.

Dear Randy and Board:

It was my pleasure to receive a request for an update on the real estate front from Randy. I spoke with Marlene about six weeks ago to check in with her to see how you are all doing in your new digs. I also keep up with you all on Facebook and enjoy the choir.

When I spoke to Marlene I told her that I have continued to check the Multiple Listing Services daily for possible properties that might be a good fit for FCC. I asked Marlene how you all were doing and I received a very good response. During our telephone conversation the consensus was that I should keep looking for you but on a weekly basis instead of a daily basis as there would be some adjusting to your new location that would certainly take some time perhaps before an active search was launched. I want to be fair and considerate of the time it takes for a new building to become your church home.

The multiple listing services have been quiet for many months but can have several new properties come on the market in a day. I must also keep in mind that you wish to continue as the First Congregational Church of Pasadena. Keeping the church in Pasadena limits by name the number of properties that we will have to choose from. I have an associate in commercial real estate who expects to have a possible building of interest coming up in July. This may or may not be a good fit for FCC, but I am encouraged that there is likely to be some movement in the market between now and the end of the year. If I come across a property that would be essential for the FCC Search Committee to see, I would alert you all and make an arrangement to see it.

Thank you.

Respectfully submitted,
Carl Whidden

New Bibles to be Dedicated and Placed in our Pews

Due to the extra pews in our new worship space, Nina has purchased new Bibles to fill the extra pews and you are invited to buy a few to dedicate to someone. Please leave a check for FCC in the amount of $20 with the dedication you wish to be included in the front inside of the Bible. We suggest only 1 or 2 persons be listed in each Bible so that each is more personal.
