Welcome to the start of Second Quarter! I hope everyone had time to rest and rejuvenate over the long weekend. This is a short issue for the short week, but it includes important reminders about events this week and next week, including the next PTSA General Membership Meeting on Wed, Nov 13, at 9:30 am in the Lecture Hall .

And great news! LHS Student Directories have arrived! See below for details about distribution .

Interested in Winter Guard? Tryouts start today , Thurs, Nov 7, 3:15 pm and are also on Fri, Nov 8, 3:15 pm in Langley Hall .

Hoops, gymnastics, swim/dive, indoor track and wrestling -- tryouts for these sports begin Mon, Nov 11.  

Before Nov 11, students need to submit their VHSL Physical Exam and Emergency Care forms to the Student Activities Office and must complete the online concussion program with a parent. Click here for more info.

PTSA members: Langley Student Directories are in! Distribution will be Mon, Nov 11 and Tues, Nov 12 during all lunch periods . Please remind your child to pick up your print copy of the Student Directory that was offered with your PTSA membership if you joined by Oct 4 . Directories will be labeled with your family name . Any directories not picked up by Tues will be available for pickup at the PTSA General Membership Meeting on Wed, Nov 13 at 9:30 am . Join us on Wed, Nov 13, 9:30 am  for our  next PTSA meeting in the Langley Lecture Hall . Enter through Door 9 for easy access. Kelly Rankin , Langley’s Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist, will share the latest findings from the FCPS Youth Survey and we’ll hear updates from the PTSA and Langley administration about the latest happenings at LHS.

jmu orchestra concert
Mark your calendars for a very special side by side concert on Wed, Nov 13 at 7 pm in the Auditorium . All of Langley’s orchestra students will have the opportunity to rehearse with JMU faculty and to perform alongside collegiate music majors. 

This exciting format will allow us to tackle some of the most challenging symphonic works ever presented at our school , culminating in the spectacular Symphonie Fantastique by Hector Berlioz . You won’t want to miss this highlight of our concert season.
castles and crowns trip
Langley parents and students, looking for a summer trip? Visit must-see locations across the pond! Join a group of 30 LHS travelers on the Langley UK Castles and Crowns Trip to England and Scotland next June 16-24, 2020 . Over the nine days, you'll explore historic and cultural sites in London, Oxford, Edinburgh and others along the route. This fabulous trip, organized by FCPS and World Strides Company, will be led by experienced Langley history teachers, and students may earn three college prep credits.
