We will start out our meeting with a brief discussion of the book by Joan Roelofs, The Trillion Dollar Silencer: Why There Is So Little Anti-War Protest in the United States.
We will then hear from Our September Guest Speaker, Tina D. Shelton, At-large Board member and Greater Philadelphia Branch member, on What is important for WILPFers to know about Project 2025?
Tina urges us to KNOW what is happening in our world and abroad.
Many of us learned about Project 2025 weeks ago, as news of it was coming out. But as a non-partisan organization, how can we spread the news of what we know and stay within the guidelines of our WILPF structure – “talk about policies, not parties!”? All while avoiding information overload, overwhelm, and despair!
At our September Jane Addams Branch, learn about the resources that are out there, which ones can help us talk to our friends and neighbors, and how to avoid getting stuck in a place of stressful panic. We want to capitalize on the collaboration of SO many organizations talking about it, many great resources, including graphics for those who want to use social media. Encouraging others to find their reason to vote and have their voice heard is a powerful advocacy! Hope you can join us!
After her presentation there will be a short time for Q&A.
We’ll then welcome announcements – from Board members, Issue Committee Chairs, Branch leaders and everyone else. If you have any question about anything WILPF, this is your chance to ask it!
