I should have taken a picture! On a whim I asked my daughter if she would come with us to Cub Scouts and be a Den Chief for one of the girl dens. We had talked about this off and on a few times but she was never committed. But when a storm cancelled her field hockey practice afterschool she said YES and put on her Venturing uniform. Oh wow did we have some girls show up! I think she has about 10 Wolf and Bears to shepard in the new den.
Vintage Scout Memorabilia Up First In The HF
I was too busy with my den (including 2 new Scouts) to tally but a rough guess is we had about 20 female cubs join the pack across all levels. Our pack probably had about 50 Scouts after bridging last years AOL Scouts so this is a big bump. Now will the BSA across the board see a 40% bump like this?
I'm really anxious to see my first round of auctions end tonight. I've been launching about a dozen or two auctions several nights over the last week with many vintage items. This lot includes felt camp patches which I've always felt like are possible sleepers when it comes to a competitive auction bidding showdown.
Another sign that I'm settling into the warehouse is that I started organizing boxes of patches yesterday that had been haphazardly loaded in during the move. I have my organized patches labeled and yesterday I used a few hours to put them all back in order and found some that I had forgotten about. Now to get them listed!
Later today I expect my mom and niece to show up for a visit. My niece is going to get trained up on how to create listings and she is going to take several boxes of patches home to assist in putting new stuff up on eBay. It's not usually a good idea to hire family but this is an easy job she can do from home that isn't super time sensitive.
This weekend I've got to finish some program pieces for summer camp. We will see how Hurricane Florence impacts the area. It looks like it's going to pack a punch but luckily (I think) Charlotte is 3 1/2 hours from the coast so hopefully we just get a brush with her this far west.

In Charlotte, North Carolina I have an antique mall booth that is filled with nothing but Scouting stuff. I call this location my clearance center because I've marked down everything to move. A lot of what you will find there are items that are too bulky to easily ship from an Internet store. The booth is located in The Sleepy Poet which is a well established antique mall on South Blvd in Charlotte. The mall is open 7-days/week year round. So the next time you are in the area come check it out.
