A TOR and an OA Winter Banquet made for a busy winter Saturday yesterday in Myrtle Beach, SC. One of the highlights was getting time to sit down at a table and talk shop with several big collectors while they sorted a 3 huge dollar boxes. I also got to catch up with so many friends from my home lodge that I have not seen since last summer.
This Weekend Is Loaded With Auctions
Although the TOR did not have a big turnout the lodge seems committed to continuing to run the event.  Most likely next year it will be in Florence, SC or another town further inland within the council.  The lodge adviser said they would also start promotions much earlier which always helps.
Order of the Arrow Auctions Up For Bids
The clock is ticking.  I have 2 weeks to prep a consignment collection to debut for sale at the South Carolina TOR hosted by Chris Jensen.  It's always been a balancing act for me having a dedicated TOR inventory and my online stock.  I prefer not to mix the two because it always leads to missing inventory when I make a sale on the Internet.  I have 3 tables at the SC TOR and will use every inch of space.

Auctions Are The Hot Finds Secret
One of the treats from Saturday was my old friend and fellow patch hound Darrin Thomas was the guest speaker at the banquet.  He gave a very original speech about how in the changing diversity of the Scouting movement we have to live up to the meaning of the OA admonition and welcome people into the brotherhood.

I have 72 live auctions on eBay with more ready to launch tonight.  If I'm very lucky I will also start the next lodge sales on the GA OA collection I'm breaking up and selling.
This afternoon has two different Scout commitments. One of our local troops is sponsoring a pinewood derby workshop day from 2-4 PM.  So Patrick and I will go out and do most of the work building his car today.  Then at 4:30 the new female Scouts BSA troop has a troop leadership meeting.  I could also add a 6 PM Girl Scout troop meeting to the calendar but my daughter has already said she plans to attend church youth group instead.
