Monday night was Patrick's first night wearing his tan Webelos shirt as a 4th grader. I got my wife to snap our picture in the backyard since it's kinda a father/son moment. He was not thrilled to be wearing vintage 80s Scout shorts but I told him that his sister won't wear anything else and they look good. I still need to get a few patches to fill out the uniform but it was a good first start. I am a little late in the day getting today's issue out into your hands so I'll skip the commentary and story telling for once and cut to the chase. :)
This weekend I'm attending a training event for perhaps the most unlikely of positions - troop committee. I believe in the method and if I'm going to serve in that capacity in my daughter's troop I feel I should be trained to position. So Saturday morning I'll be a 2-hour class for getting that knocked out locally here in my council.

In Charlotte, North Carolina I have an antique mall booth that is filled with nothing but Scouting stuff. I call this location my clearance center because I've marked down everything to move. A lot of what you will find there are items that are too bulky to easily ship from an Internet store. The booth is located in The Sleepy Poet which is a well established antique mall on South Blvd in Charlotte. The mall is open 7-days/week year round. So the next time you are in the area come check it out.
