I have been telling people that in my guest to get more people without grey hair to come to the Charlotte TOR that I'm leaving no stones unturned. Last night after leaving my Cub Scout den meeting I visited Troop 39 in Matthews, NC to pitch the TOR. This troop is huge with almost 70 registered Scouts.

My show and tell item for the talk was a square merit badge sash. I told them that their great grandfather could have worn this sash then looked at some of the older Scoutmasters in the room and asked them if the sash looked familiar. :)
My giveaway item for this group was merit badge pamphlets with a TOR card inside the front cover. I told them that if they got a pamphlet they didn't like they could trade it with a friend. I handed out over 50 books and still owe 5 Scouts one next week. Luckily we have a connection with this troop through our Scouts BSA girl troop so I can make good for those Scouts.
The other good piece here is my assistant den leader has made the TOR one of his Wood Badge ticket items. He visited another troop in town last night and gave away more books. All told we have visited or had talks at 4 Round Tables and 1/2 dozen troop meetings in the surrounding area. If the offer of free admission, free patches, and a scavenger hunt doesn't work I guess next year we will have to give away ice cream to get these Scouts to turn out!
We still have 12 tables available for rent at the TOR. One of our renters that was getting 3 had to back out. So if anyone has some last minute plans to come send me a message and reserve a table.

In Charlotte, North Carolina I have an antique mall booth that is filled with nothing but Scouting stuff. I call this location my clearance center because I've marked down everything to move. A lot of what you will find there are items that are too bulky to easily ship from an Internet store. The booth is located in The Sleepy Poet which is a well established antique mall on South Blvd in Charlotte. The mall is open 7-days/week year round. So the next time you are in the area come check it out.
