Buy A Brick: During the month of May we are taking orders for inscribed bricks for our Memorial Prayer Garden. Order forms are in the back of the sanctuary, or you can download one here . Cost is $40. Bricks are ordered once a year. Orders due this Sunday, June 2.
NEW Gardening Help Needed: We have another landscaping project that we could use some help with! The landscaping beds at the entrance of our parking lot are being removed due to an invasive weed that keeps returning. Come when you can, bring shovels, rakes, etc. Contact Roger Hoogewind if you have any questions. Monday, June 3 & Tuesday, June 4, 9am-12pm.
Grad Sunday: Join us as we celebrate our high school and college graduates! There will be a cake reception in the gym following the service. Sunday, June 2.
Adult Fellowship: For our June gathering, we will be having lunch in the Fellowship Hall at noon. Lunch will be served (not a potluck). Wednesday, June 5, 12pm.
One Sunday Pentecost Offering: For the past several years we have participated in the RCA “One Sunday” Pentecost Offering. This offering provides an opportunity to live out the call of Pentecost: spreading the gospel to unreached places. This year, the offering will support Doug McClintic as he prepares to move to Europe as a missionary (learn more here ). To participate, please use your “special offering” envelope from your packet (or a pew envelope), mark it “Pentecost Offering,” and place it in the offering plate. Make checks payable to Rockford Reformed Church, and be sure your name and/or offering envelope number is on the envelope. You may also give online – just choose the One Sunday option. Sunday, June 9.
REAL Men: REAL Men is a group that believes God is actively working in our lives, and that we all have a story that He wants us to tell. It is not a Bible study or an accountability group, and it is not exclusive to RRC, so invite others! Each meeting will feature a speaker. Meet at Arnie's Restaurant, 34 S Squires St, downtown Rockford. The restaurant isn't open at that time, so we have the place to ourselves. Coffee and refreshments will be provided. Friday, June 14, 7-8am at Arnie's Restaurant.
View From the Hill: You are invited to enjoy the Start of Summer Celebration fireworks from the hill at Rockford Reformed Church. Starting at 8pm, come enjoy free popcorn, refreshments, and children’s activities. Please bring a chair or a blanket, your family and friends, and enjoy the beauty of the fireworks from the top of the hill at Rockford Reformed Church. Saturday, June 15, 8pm.
NEW After-Service Socials: Join us in the gym after each service this summer for an opportunity to connect with people in a relaxed atmosphere. Don’t miss this chance to meet, greet, and eat! Snacks may be simple, such as cookies and milk, but each week is a surprise! If your family, small group, or ministry is willing to host a week, please let Laura Jolliffe know. Click here to view open weeks. Begins Sunday, June 16.
Vacation Bible School: For kids ages 3 years through those who are in (or have just completed) 5th grade! Join us for four nights at ROAR VBS, where kids explore God’s goodness and celebrate a ferocious faith that powers them through this wild life. Register here . Sunday-Wednesday, June 23-26, 6-8pm.
Ladies' Book Club: We meet the last Thursday of the month at 7pm in the Fireside Room. This is not a Bible study or religious book study - books from a wide variety of genres are picked. June’s book is Wolf’s Mouth by John Smolens. The book club will not meet in July or August . Thursday, June 27, 7-8:30pm.
Adult Single Ladies' Lunch: Each month we meet at a restaurant, then head back to church for games and dessert in the Fireside Room. Please RSVP with Carol Knox. Saturday, July 27, 1pm. Location TBA. No June meeting.
Praise in the Park: Come enjoy Christian music Sunday evenings at the Garden Club Park in downtown Rockford next to the dam. Bring your chairs and your friends! See our website for the lineup. Coupons available to local restaurants. Sundays at 6pm. RRC plays August 25.
Men's Prayer Breakfast: Join us in the Fellowship Hall (Room 100) any time. Fellowship, prayer, devotional, coffee, and maybe donuts! Tuesdays at 7am.
Softball: Come out and cheer on our team Tuesday nights! Location varies. See our website for the schedule. Tuesdays at 6:30pm.
Life Groups: A Life Group is a small group of 8-12 people that focuses on three priorities – sharing, study, and support. Life Group members will commit to meet together at least every other week through the school season—and even better, through the summer. We call these “Life Groups” because they are focused on (1) helping us grow in our life in Christ and (2) sharing life together. If you are interested in joining a life group or starting one up, please contact our Life Group Coordinator, Pam Jacobs .

Kids Hope Mentors spend one hour one time each week with a child. They share their time, their skills, and their love. They open their hearts to new relationships through this program. Though the mentors are blessed by the experience of meeting with these students, it is not always easy. Students in our schools today are struggling socially, emotionally, and academically. These student may be very shy or very spirited. They may struggle as they find themselves being bullied or maybe being the bully. They may be behind in reading or dislike math. The mentors are meeting these kids where they are at and working with them, encouraging them and listening to them. Some days as a mentor are very challenging and cutting this time out of their busy schedule is a sacrifice. I praise God and celebrate these mentors today, at the end of another great year! They have stuck with these students and this school. They have gone out into the community and demonstrated the kind of care and love that God shows us everyday. Thank you to the congregation for your support in this ministry. Let’s continue to care for and love others.

“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Hebrews 13:16
