As each of you prepare to begin a new school year, I’d like you to consider the purpose of the items in your backpack. My guess is that most of you have at least a few of the following: a pencil, ruler, pencil crayons or markers, paper, and a binder. They all look different and they have different uses but they are all necessary to help us learn at school. We use the pencil to write down information or draw an outline of a picture but it can’t make our drawings look as beautiful as the pencil crayons and markers. The binder is useless unless it has paper to hold and the paper becomes disorganized without being placed in the binder. Our rulers help us measure things but we need the pencil to write down our findings.
What does this all have to do with YOU?
The items in your backpack each have their own unique purpose but also work together to help you do your best in school.
God has given each of us special gifts, talents, personalities, and experiences. We are each different, but all work together to be God’s hands in this world.
You have been specially made by God. There is no one exactly like you. So, go into this school year and be the unique person God made you to be!
Live in love and smile!
