Wavecrest 2026 Kick Off
January 17th Meeting Minutes
Board Members in Attendance:

Club Members in Attendance:
Jerry Adams, Brenda Mullen, George Sicklick, Jim Peevey, Frank Delaney,
Scott Melcer, Reggie Keyohara, Ray Deschenes, Greg Palmer
All the above-mentioned people (board included) will be members of the
2026 Wavecrest Committee. No one volunteered to be chairperson. Due
to business commitments, Scott Melcer is willing to be an advisor, not a
committee member.
Based on the meeting notes, the Tracker will be reduced by George
Sicklick. The following events will occur:
- Thursday night in Encinitas – F St. will be used and possibly Charlie’s lot
- Friday night – Meet & Greet – The Encinitan Pool - 4pm - attendees need to bring their chairs, food, and drinks. Rocky will have some beer. The purpose is to provide an area for people to talk.
- Saturday – Wavecrest at Moonlight Beach Parking Lot 8am-3pm
- Saturday evening – no SDW sponsored dinner at The Encinitan
- Sunday Cruise – will take place as in past years
Shirts – we sold or gave away 450 of 500 shirts in 2025
Rocky will contact Crazy Industries for outsourcing shirts. Rocky will check
on pricing. After Rocky gets information, Scott will check with another
possible source and a decision will be made. The club might give
a shirt to attendees who register and sign the required waiver. Under
discussion.
It was decided at the last meeting that no poster was needed. There was
discussion about a small poster, no decision. Our 3 monetary sponsors
could have their logos on the shirts instead of the poster. Hansen’s would
be included since they provide a surfboard. Sponsors could also be listed
on a banner at the registration table.
Raffle
- The 50/50 raffle with a minimum prize of $500 will take place with sales beginning the Saturday prior to Wavecrest at a picnic. Location of picnic to be determined
- The 50/50 will continue at every gathering until a winner is drawn at Wavecrest
- The Hansen’s surfboard will be raffled at Wavecrest
Tracker Items Need More Volunteers
Ray Deschenes will take over items from Bunny that aren’t required by
Encinitas, or part of the 50/50 raffle or registration. Depending on the size
of the new Tracker, George Beebe or another person familiar with Excel will
work on the revised Tracker.
George Beebe suggested as we simplify Wavecrest, the theme should be
“Back to our Roots”.

Bunny will call Jaimie Lewis on Tuesday to find out if we don’t barricade C
St.
- Do we need a Traffic Control Plan?
- Do we need to send out Attachment C, two weeks prior to the event?
- Do we need Senior Volunteer Patrol if we don’t block the streets?
- NOTE: Rocky has cones if we need them
