Reminder: Licensing Starts in June

The Bar's licensing renewal period begins on Monday, June 2nd. Please take a few moments to ensure a smooth and efficient renewal process by following these simple steps:

1. Verify Your Email Address: Log in to your Practice Portal and confirm that your primary email address is up to date.

2. Provide a Backup Email Address: Please provide a secondary email address. This allows for backup communication in case you lose access to your primary email.

  • Note for Young Lawyers: Please provide a secondary email address as your law school email may become inaccessible in the future. This will ensure you continue to receive all important renewal reminders and account recovery instructions, if necessary.

3. Answer Security Questions: Answer the security questions in your Practice Portal to enhance the security of your account.

4. Unblock Bar Emails: Add the Utah State Bar email address licensing@utahbar.org to your safe senders list to ensure you receive all licensing renewal notifications and account recovery instructions, if necessary.

By following these steps, your licensing renewal process runs efficiently, smoothly, and your data is secure.

** IMPORTANT **

Every year after the legislative session ends, the Bar calculates all reasonable expenses attributable to the Bar’s legislative activities for the preceding 12-month period and identifies each lawyer’s and LPP’s pro rata portion of the amount of license fees for legislative activities. Once the amount is determined, the Bar places a notice in the May-June Bar Journal and in the April e-bulletin giving lawyers and LPPs the opportunity to claim the rebate. Any lawyer or LPP claiming the rebate is issued a check for the pro rata portion of their licensing fees that went to legislative activities. This policy is codified at Supreme Court Rule of Professional Practice 14-106(c).
