New Appointments to Third District Court

Amanda Montague has been appointed to the Third District Court by Gov. Spencer Cox. The nomination is subject to confirmation by the Utah Senate.


Montague is division director for State Agency Counsel in the Utah Attorney General’s Office, overseeing legal representation for more than 100 state agencies, boards, and commissions. 

Gov. Spencer J. Cox has appointed attorney Derek Williams to the 3rd District Court. The nomination is subject to confirmation by the Utah Senate.


Williams is a partner at Campbell, Williams, Ference, Nelson & Hall, where he focuses on medical-malpractice defense and adoption law.



Judge Bruce S. Jenkins, 1927-2023

On November 7, 2023, U.S. District Judge Bruce S. Jenkins passed away at age 96. His remarkable 58-year judicial career began in 1965 as a Bankruptcy Referee and left a lasting impact on Utah's legal community.

To honor his legacy, former law clerks John Boyle and Joseph Gatton, with support from the Utah Chapter of the Tenth Circuit Historical Society, curated a collection of tributes, photos, key rulings, speeches, and documents from Judge Jenkins’ career.
