Dear Friends,
Vaccinations are ramping up as Covid numbers are going down, there is increasingly more warmth in the sunshine, days are getting longer and Easter is on the horizon...hope is in the air!!
I trust that you share some of these hopeful feelings and that each and every one of you is healthy and doing well. We have so much to be thankful for.
The vestry continues to meet twice a month and is beginning to talk about what summer may bring. We so look forward to being together in person and hope that it will not be too much longer.

From Milissa LaLonde....

Winter Squash & Black Bean Casserole
(serves 4-6)

1 large onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
3-4 C roasted butternut squash (or other winter squash)
1 can black beans
Chili powder, cumin, salt & pepper to taste
2 C salsa
10-12 corn tortillas
Cheddar or jack cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Saute onion in oil till soft, add garlic, squash, beans, spices and set aside.
Spread thin layer of salsa on bottom of 9”X13” pan and lay half the tortillas on top (cut some in half to fit against sides of pan)
Spread half squash mixture over tortillas.
Layer salsa then tortillas, then squash and a final layer of salsa.
Shred cheese and layer on top.
Bake about 30 minutes

An Invitation for an evening with Trinity Episcopal Church, Castine

Thursday, March 18 at 7 PM
Constance and Dain Perry have screened the film and facilitated public conversations on race more than 300 times in the United States as well as Australia and West Africa
Dain worked in the financial industry for 30 years, as well as serving with non-profit organizations which promoted reform in the criminal justice system. Constance specialized in training, facilitation and consulting for non-profit organizations, with a focus on programs for at-risk youth and adults. They are an interracial couple that recognizes that Dain is a decendent of slave traders and slave owners and Constance is a decendent of slaves. Based on both their personal and family histories, they have embarked on a journey of racial reconciliation and healing, and invite others to their own journeys.

Staying within the grant guidelines of health, warmth, and food, the committee decided to make its first donation ($500) from the grant to the Wardwell Oil for Needy Families program.

...and a Budget Update: The committee voted to send $500.00 to Friends in Action to aid the Vaccine Buddies program.
Diapers are much needed at the Tree of Life!

Please pick up a box or two and bring them to Tree of Life on Thursdays between 9:00 and 1:00. Once the church reopens, we will get the Diaper Bank going again on a more consistent basis. Many baby bottoms thank you!!
Is St. Francis turning into a bunch of "foodies"???

eClare is receiving recipes, new discoveries at the Co-op, hearing about strange new eating habits, and some of us are retreating back to our childhood favorites!

Chime in ...how are you doing with all that? We are inundated with recipes online, and some of them are really good!

Send along a recipe "reference" since eClare does not have space for lengthy recipes.
