I see the moon,
And the moon sees me;
God bless the moon,
And God bless me.

From Fr. Brent
We have been back for five Sundays now... I am not sure what church really felt like here before COVID, but I can tell you that church right now feels really, really great. Goodness, this church can sing. Goodness, there are a bunch of us. Goodness, I am so glad to be here with you all.
As I said a couple of weeks ago at church, our mission this summer is to be together. There is plenty to be worried about in the world. There is also plenty to celebrate. The beauty of the earth (particularly the earth right around here); good friends; relative normality; gathering to worship God and partake in the sacraments of the church, live, in person, for real; surviving a pandemic... in a world as fraught as ours can be, celebrating the goodness of the creation is important.
Come Fall we’ll start on some other important work. We’ll begin to discern where Blue Hill’s needs meet our passions and what we have to offer. We’ll begin to discern how to channel the marvelous energy that drove the St. Francis Fair for 30 years into another life-giving, community-building ministry. And we’ll settle in to being St. Francis right here, and right now.
Until then, let’s enjoy the heck out of this beautiful place and all the wonderful people we are surrounded by. Let’s open wide our doors and our hearts as there are a lot of new folks here in town, and a lot of folks looking for some solace and strength after this past year.
I look forward to getting to know you better and better.
In Christ,
Brent

Outreach has adjourned for the summer
From Outreach Chair, Sue Grindle
Notes from the June 9 Meeting:
Budget Update: The committee voted to send out the following allocations:
$250.00 to Families First in Ellsworth...they are open and helping homeless families!
$600.00 to Friendship Cottage in Blue Hill in recognition of their contribution to the community by running an excellent daycare for area elderly who suffer from any form of brain malfunction. Anne Osanna is the director and ensures compassionate care, fun entertainment, and nutritious meals and snacks. Friendship Cottage is part of Downeast Community Partners. Marshall Smith brought the idea for our contribution to the committee because of his past experience with Friendship Cottage. A respite from caring for afflicted loved ones is key to good health for all.
~~~
"Sadly, our dear friend Nancy Doane has decided to retire from Outreach. She has served for many years on the committee as the Chair and as a hardworking member. Nancy's wise advice and down to earth common sense will be greatly missed. I know you will join me in wishing her the joy of gardening, reading, and chatting with friends now that she has more free time. Thank you, Nancy!"
(these flowers are one of two arrangements by Angela Yardy)
Last Sunday, the altar flowers were given by a number of St. Frances parishioners in honor of Mary Boyd. Eight years ago Mary was disgnosed with cancer and has just been released, fully recovered, by her doctor. Congratulations, Mary!
Steve Whitely surprised his wife, The Rev. Regina Christianson, of thirty four years of their blissful lives together...with an elegant and warm surprise announcement! Congrats!
Gerald and Jean Wheeler were a welcoming presence, along with family, last Sunday!
Seeking Eucharistic Ministers!
Serving at the Table of Our Lord is a beautiful form of religious practice. It has solemnity about it. It encourages grace. It serves others. And you get the best seat in the house. If you are interested in learning more about this critical ministry, talk to Fr. Brent.
