St. Francis by the Sea

"Living our Mission"

A previous edition of eClare mentioned that H.O.M.E. was 150 turkeys short of their needs for turkeys for this coming Thanksgiving for their clients experiencing homelessness and poverty. Hannafords, St. Francis parishioners and our friends have stepped up to help! On Sunday, November 24 we will be loading up 40-50 turkeys on H.O.M.E.'s big truck (thank you for transportation, HOME!) along with all the extras we all provide every year. H.O.M.E.'s current director was really overwhelmed by St. Francis generosity. She said, "St. Francis somehow always comes through for us.There is a lot of need at this time. We are so thankful for you."

Hannafords is a big part of this. For St. Francis, they will be donating 30 of the turkeys and pricing the turkeys at between $.40 and $.47 per pound. We have requested 10-12 lb turkeys in hopes of purchasing as many as possible. Kevin, our treasurer, has received a couple of checks from "away" parishioners. Thank you!

If you would like to participate, please send a check to St. Francis, attn: Kevin Hunt with “turkeys” on the memo line.

Our Prayer List

Carol Bellows, Mary Boyd, Bill Cary, Bill Casale, Claire, Cynthia, Kathy Caudill, David Decrow, James Greenlaw, Jim Lober, David McBeth, Bob Morvillo and family, Ronan, Cindy Reilly, Dinny Robson, Claudia Smith, Donny Smith, Rod Smith, Peggy Smith, Robert Tobin, Lynne Wells, Denise and Persis Williams. For those celebrating birthdays this week: David Decrow and Jon Barry.

We give thanks for the life and ministry of The Rev. Mary-Ann Taylor

Many St. Francis parishioners will remember Mary-Ann as part of the "Troika" with The Rev. Ted Peterson and The Rev. Ian Bockas when St. Francis Church was in transition.
Suzanne Decrow says "Each one of them was wonderful and we were blessed to have them." Some of us simply remember her quietness and grace. Former parishioner, David Wiggins writes, "I knew her as a warm, caring treasure of a person!"
We will all remember Mary-Ann's love of Mary Oliver's poetry and how often she would print one on those poems on the front cover of St. Francis' Sunday Bulletins.
Rev. Douglas Beck has written a beautiful tribute to Mary-Ann in the St. Francis Sunday Bulletin. He had a close relationship with her and that tribute needs to be read.

Thank you, Marty Hamblen!
