Prayers for those gathering for the 2018 Synod Assembly
O God,
our beginning and our end,
you kept Abraham and Sarah in safety
throughout the days of their pilgrimage,
you led the children of Israel through the midst of the sea,
and by a star you led the magi to the infant Jesus.
Protect and guide us now as voting members, visitors, guests,
and synod council set out to travel.

O God, we pray you open the hearts of your faithful people
by sending your Holy Spirit. We ask that you direct
those who gather as the Rocky Mountain Synod
at the Synod Assembly by the light of that Spirit,
that they may have a right judgment in all things
and rejoice at all times in your peace.
Help us all to serve as instruments of
healing and hope for the life of the world.
Guide all voting members to follow our Savior’s lead.
We lift up these prayers and all prayers to you,
in the name of Jesus who leads us. Amen.

eConnection Spotlight: RMS in the Neighborhood
Kits of Care service project for Vacation Bible School!
Looking for a service project to incorporate into this summer's Vacation Bible School? Assemble Kits of Care for Lutheran World Relief! There are many types of Kits to bring youth together in service to our neighbors in need:
  • School Kits: Simple school supplies, like notebooks, pencils and scissors, make a world of difference for families that struggle to afford their children's education
  • Personal Care Kits: Basic hygiene items - soap, nail clippers, a towel - are crucial to keeping families healthy, especially after leaving their homes because of war or natural disasters
  • Fleece Tie Blankets: In a hospital room or on the hard ground, these handmade blankets provide protection and a sense of comfort
LWR has resources available to help VBS leaders collect items, assemble kits and track them as they travel around the world. Visit lwr.org/kits to get started!

Film: The Stones Cry Out, the Story of the Palestinian Christians
Directed by Yasmine Perni

On Christmas Eve, we sing "O Little Town of Bethlehem," but what do we know of the people who still live in Bethlehem today? This is their story, in their voices, from the Nakba of 1948 until today. The film won an award at the Barcelona International Film Festival.
Yasmine Perni moved from her native Italy to the Middle East when she was 13 years old, living in Sudan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan and Jerusalem. A graduate of the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies, she has worked as a journalist, photographer, television producer and mother. (55 min.)
