A Reconciling in Christ synod
Happy 4th of July!
The Office of the Bishop will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th.
Seeds in Good Soil
Each summer, St. Mark’s, Aurora, CO opens up over a dozen plots in their garden for both church members and community members alike. One of the members of St. Mark’s cares for the garden in the off season and makes sure the soil is ready and fertile to produce new life. And, when the soil is ready and the weather is prime, the garden is planted and cared for by neighbors and congregation members. Thank you, St. Mark's for being the church in your neighborhood!

2017 Theological Conference
September 18-21, 2017
Marriott Hotel, Colorado Springs, CO

Speaker information, schedule, and registration information is now available for the 2017 Theological Conference.

Registration Deadline is August 17.

Church Development Institute

People who confess a Trinitarian God are people who believe that God is all about the relationship.

Our congregations need leaders who can navigate and practice healthy relationships. The RMS can host a modified version of the Church Development Institute, which has been used extensively in the Colorado Episcopal Diocese and has equipped many congregations to find renewed meaning and purpose in their life together.

Because the best learning happens when interacting with peers, we will only move forward with this class if we have a minimum number of people and congregations. Our deadline for registration is August 25, 2017. Please visit our website for information and to register, see our flyer, and let us know as soon as possible so we can confirm the class.

ELCA Reformation Resources
A number of congregations and conferences are busy planning special events and worship services for October 2017. The ELCA500 website has great resources for worship, catechism, service events, videos, and more to help your commemoration planning!

Prayer of the Day
O God, you direct our lives by your grace, and your words of justice and mercy reshape the world. Mold us into a people who welcome your word and serve one another, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Global Church Prayer
God who orders our lives, remind us of the ways you call us to order our lives through our welcome of others. Thanks be to you for the people of ELCA congregations who support global ministries welcoming our brothers and sisters to hear the good news. May the welcome you show us in Jesus Christ reverberate in all our interactions and in all the ways we live and serve with others, through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Rostered Ministers Retirement Savings - Let Us Help You
Did you know? In the RMS, 74% of our rostered ministers have contributions to their retirement fund at Portico at 10% or less. In order to avoid a retirement income crunch, Educate, Equip, Enact is offering an incentive to raise contributions up to 12%. If the congregation/ministry/minister will increase the contribution by 1%, we are ready to match that. Want more information? Inquire here, or contact Janice Kibler.

Wartburg College Expanding Digital Ministry Program to Church Leaders
Starting in Winter Semester (January) of 2018, Wartburg College will open up its Digital Ministry program to outside participants. In-person and online options will be available.

The class is a collaboration between the Religion and Journalism Communication departments at Wartburg, an ELCA sponsored college and is taught by Rev. Wil Ranney, who created it in partnership with Wartburg’s Campus Minister, Rev. Brian Beckstrom. Wil is a professional “digital minister” who consults nationwide with churches and church organizations and he describes digital ministry as “All the ways in which the church can leverage technology, with a strong emphasis on social media, and with a strong sense of theological purpose.” He says, “the class uses techniques pioneered by internet startups to demonstrate how churches can leverage technology to create exciting new ministries and to enhance existing ministry, while managing the risk associated with change.”

The class is intended for pastors who want to deepen their effectiveness, for church communicators and technologists, and for lay leaders who wish broaden their discipleship. Interested persons should visit their website to learn more about the program and to take a short survey to show their interest and to help refine the class offerings. Ranney believes the class will help most ministry professionals meet their continuing education requirements.
